I am always trying to find ways to make sure that our entire family gets the nutrition and vitamins that our bodies need and want. This is a hard job during the summer months when the temperatures go up and all we want to eat is cold ice cream and Popsicles. I recently decided to pick up some Almond Milk for the family because I just read about all the great benefits of Almond Milk. I was really surprised at the great taste of the New Silk Almond Milk Protein + Fiber and the great combo of Silk Almond Coconut Blend. While we are not a family that has to worry about Dairy Free items I found that I felt better after drinking a cold glass of Almond Milk over drinking regular milk.
I had big plans with these new treats but the kids did not agree with me. They were not as happy with a tall glass of COLD Almond Milk as I was, so in order to help both Jude and Teagan get some of that extra protein in Almond Milk I decided to get creative in the kitchen. I wanted to find a dessert or treat for a hot summer day that would not only satisfy the kids’ sweet tooth but give them the benefits of almond milk. Did you know that Almond Milk has 50% more calcium than dairy milk? Or that it is a good source of protein, vitamin E and fiber? AND the Silk Almond Milk contains NO saturated fat or cholesterol! Hello! Who would have thought that cooking with Almond Milk would be so beneficial, not to mention easy! Check out what I created and both kids have asked for again after playing in the sunshine!

Free Printable recipe here.
Ingredients:
2 cups Vanilla Ice Cream
1/2 cup birthday cake mix (I used confetti cake)
Directions:
1. In a large blender, I used my Ninja, add the Ice Cream, Cake Mix and Almond Milk.
2. Blend well. Serve immediately!
3. For decoration coat the rim of your glass in Corn Syrup and then dip the glass into the sprinkles. Yum! Enjoy!
Easy right? This is a great option for those people who might be nervous to try a different kind of Milk. Honestly, the Almond Milk makes this recipe. The Milk Shake is thick and frothy – perfect! While the ice cream makes this more of a treat and a dessert than a healthy shake I do feel good about serving my children this Milk Shake with the extra Fiber and Protein that is found in the almond milk.
We are also a big smoothie family and know I know I will be making our morning smoothies with almond milk, for some extra health benefits but also the taste! First one on my list to make – a Hawaiian Smoothie with Silk Almond Coconut Blend, pineapple, mango and strawberries! Sounds like an amazing way to start a summer morning to me!

How do you plan on incorporating Almond Milk into your daily routine?
I love putting almond milk in smoothies! I like to do almond milk, blueberries, spinach, and a scoop of vegan protein powder. Super yummy. I also like to cook with almond milk. Looks tasty!
love using Almond Milk as a lactose free option in my baking, and in my shakes when I'm doing Shakeology (with frozen fruit, chocolate shakeO powder)
We only drink almond milk in this house. I actually just introduced my 1 year old to it last month, and she loves it! It was a very easy switch from formula.
My fiance would be totally jealous of your ninja! He likes to make protein shakes, but we have never tried almond milk before
I'll be honest. I don't get the whole almond milk thing but the recipe is interesting!
I love using almond milk in my cereal. This shake looks amazing!
Oh I have never tried almond milk! I am going to have to try it! Carter would love those birthday cake milk shakes!
I love Birthday Cake flavored stuff, but I have never tried Almond Milk. This looks really good.
Loooove almond milk, so I must try this!
These shakes look delicious! I've never thought about using cake mix as part of a milkshake…what a clever idea! Great use of Silk, too! #client
looks great! Can't wait to give it a try
What a creative idea!
I'd add vodka to it, but I'm sure it's good straight too. 😉
Interesting recipe. Do you find that it gets sludgy at the bottom though with the cake mix?
