Medifast 5-1 Plan. What is Ketosis? Losing weight with Medifast. Weight Loss with Ketosis. Weight loss plans. Lose weight fast. Medifast. Weight Watchers. Jenny Craig
Last week I announced that I was an Official Medifast Blogger and was starting my final weight loss journey, while I was super excited to start my program I was also really nervous but I am here today with some great updates!  I am not going to lie, the first week of Medifast isn’t all fun and games, frankly, those Medifast headaches and ketosis breath makes it hard to stay committed….well until you step on the scale and see this!

Week One Results:
I lost a total of

pounds!!!!
That’s right friends, almost 9 pounds gone in just 7 days!  That headache was totally worth it on Thursday.  After seeing my success I am really motivated to continue.  Time to give you a run down on my past week.

Staying On Plan:

For the last 7 days I have honestly been on plan.  That is a huge accomplishment for me!  Obviously, with the results I have seen this week I know that if I stay on plan I will accomplish my goals with no problem!  As I stated before the first week of Medifast can be a big transition but with motivation and WATER you can make it through.
For those that are not familiar with Medifast, when you stick to the plan your body goes into Ketosis, that’s a good thing!  What is Ketosis?  Ketosis means that our bodies are using fat for energy.  Hey Body!  USE THAT FAT!  Now the issue that Ketosis brings is sometimes some bad breath and headaches.  Thankfully after about a week the headache goes away as long as you continue to drink TONS of water; that Ketosis breath…not so much.  Invest in some sugar free gum, your friends and family will thank you!
So once I was able to get through the transition I started feeling amazing.  I knew I had lost weight but mostly I simply felt less bloated which is a great motivator for me.  I hate that feeling.  Since being on the Medifast 5-1 plan I have only felt bloated once and I believe it was because I might have over done it on the veggie intake.  Ha!  One thing that I really need to remember while on this plan is to drink lots of water, I am not a fan of water so this is hard for me to achieve but overall I feel better when I am well hydrated on this plan.
So for those of you who are worried about the transition, I am being VERY honest here, it is a tough week but if you keep track of your plan, drinks TONS of water and get some gum, you will make it through!

Food:

Alright, now on to the GOOD stuff – FOOD!!  Before I go too far into this let me tell you all about the Medifast 5-1 plan that I am currently on.  Right now every day I eat 5 prepackaged Medifast meals that range from 90-110 calories each.  Medifast has so many choices for you to enjoy too – Shakes, Pudding, Brownies (OH THE BROWNIES!), pretzels, cereal, Mac n Cheese, Smoothies, Pancakes, ect.  Seriously, something for everyone – and everyone has their own favorites too.  I am sure you will start to see what my favs are too.

Not only do I get to have 5 of those yummy meals a day but I also get a Lean and Green Meal.  This meal is prepared by me or even at a restaurant.   Lean and Green is exactly what it sounds like – Veggies and Lean Proteins!  In pretty good portions too.

I am not hungry, you probably think I am starving, I am not!  In fact, there are some days where if feels like I eat ALL DAY LONG!  If there is a HUNGRY day I simply reach for my water bottle or enjoy a sugar free Jell-O cup or a Dill Pickle.  Nom!
My second day on plan I had to head to Jury Duty and you know what?  I was able to pack for it and stay right on track!  How easy!

And in all of this I do not have to give up my slight Coffee obsession!  Check out this brillant idea.  Medifast has Ready To Drink Shakes that come in a French Vanilla Flavor so every morning I head to my favorite Starbucks and order a BLACK no sugar or milk added Grande Iced Coffee in a Venti cup.  Once I get my treat I add my first Medifast Meal of the day to my coffee – the RTD French Vanilla Shake – and stir and enjoy!  It feels like a cheat and it isn’t!!!  Yum!

Worries:

Weekends are hard.  I find myself struggling on the weekend to stick to the plan completely. Last Saturday we had a birthday party to go to and while I did have a Hot Dog (no bun) I felt good walking away from the chips, dips and cookies knowing I made a decent choice.  Eating in large groups is hard, I am proud to be on this journey with Medifast and talk about it all the time but there is still some embarrassment there as well.  With time and results I know that will go away.
My next challenges will come next weekend – it is Jeremy’s birthday weekend and we always go to dinner and celebrate.  I will need to be focused on the prize on that day!!
