For Jude’s 6 birthday he decided he wanted a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Birthday party. I was super excited about this theme because of all of the easy but creative decorations and food ideas I found. We did our traditional summer birthday we have done for 6 years now with Jude. Backyard pool party with friends and family. Once again it was a hit and everyone had a fantastic time.

Here is our big guy on his special day. His 6th birthday actually feel on a Saturday so he was lucky enough to have his birthday party on his actual birthday party! I found a Ninja Turtle swim shirt and trunks so we decided to give him those as an early present so he could wear them for his party. He matched perfectly!
Our finished food table. Thanks to Oriental Trading Company our table was filled with bright colors all themed around the Ninja Turtles. I stayed pretty neutral with the green table cloths for the background backdrop and table but then used Red, Orange, Blue and Purple napkins, “silverware” and crepe paper. It looked so great, and was not a hard set up at all.
Using green round lanterns I created 4 turtles with large googly eyes and crepe paper. Super easy but everyone that came into the house loved our ninja turtle lanterns! I simply used orange, red, blue and purple crepe paper and glued a piece around each lantern. Then I used large googly eyes to finish the turtle face – used packing tape to do this. We hung them up around the food table for some extra fun!
Oriental Trading has everything I needed to create a great food table and decorations to make our little guys birthday party perfect.
Oh and pizza – our main course was pizza of course.
And now on to one of my favorite creations of the party. Our Ninja Turtle veggie and fruit trays. I saw this idea all over the internet and decided I had to make these. I sat down and decided which fruits and veggies would match the colors of the turtles and this is what I created.
For Raphael: Cucumbers, Black Olives, and Tomatoes. Eyes are made out of ranch dressing with sliced olives in shot glasses!
For Leonardo: Green Grapes, Blackberries and Blueberries. Eyes are made out of yogurt fruit dip with blueberry eyes in a shot glasses.
For Donatello: Honeydew melon, blueberries and purple grapes. Eyes are made out of yogurt fruit dip with blueberry eyes in a shot glasses.
For Michelangelo: Broccoli, black olives and carrots. Eyes are made out of ranch dressing with sliced olives in shot glasses!
Once again, these turned out great and these trays were able to feed a very large crowd. I loved hearing the kids looking at the trays and figuring out that they are turtles!
Cake time! I am blessed with an amazing friend who can create spectacular cakes for our birthday parties. This time Julie, totally made a masterpiece. Jude told us that he wanted all of the ninja turtles on the cake and she did just that. They were so cute coming out of the sewer!
Every year that she makes a cake for us we get a million compliments on our cake. This one was so fun!
On top of the pizza and the fun veggie and fruit trays I did some other themed items for people to enjoy.
The Ninja Turtle confetti and centerpieces added so much to our table.
Mutagen Ooze! This was a perfect side dish that the kiddos loved. Green Jell-o!!
Turtle Popcorn! I got so many questions about this recipe – I will be sharing it later this week. Yummy!! Simple option for any party!
Sewer lids! HA! Yes, Oreo cookies worked perfectly for this!
Even though pizza was our actually main dish, I decided to make a Pizza Cheese and Cracker tray too. Simply layer cheese, ham, turkey and pepperoni on a tray and then using crackers make a crust. Such an easy item to create but it was full of creativity and perfect for our theme!
We had a great day celebrating Jude with friends and family. Once again, we listened to what he wanted and tried to make it work and as usual it turned out perfect for him. I love being able to do that for him!

The turtle popcorn is so cool! I love themed parties. My kids don't have a lot of friends or family so I never get to throw on but I love collaborating with others and putting something together.
