Those pesky little elves have been on a roll this week. Hard to believe we are already done with week two with Peppermint and Cupcake. The Christmas season really is going quickly. This week I am excited to share some of our favorite Elf on the Shelf Ideas that our kids love. Once again, we never go over the top with our Elf on the Shelf fun because frankly we do not have the energy to deal with it at the end of the day.
Elf On The Shelf Ideas Your Kids Will Love
Peppermint and Cupcake visit Jude and Teagan from December 1-24th every year. This means we have 24 ideas that we must come up with. While I would love to just move the elves from one shelf to another, the kids love when the elves do some creative things through out the week too. The ideas shown below are some of our favorites because the give the kids the most laughs.
Stuffy Friends
This is one of those super easy Elf on the Shelf ideas that has the kids searching for Cupcake and Peppermint in the morning. We simply pile up the holiday stuffed animals we have set out for Christmas over the elves. It usually takes them awhile to notice the elves poking their heads out of the pile of stuffy friends.
Oh Bananas!
We do not buy bananas often but every year around this time I have to pick some up for our bananas idea. Simply use a marker to draw some fun Minion characters on your bananas. Now, make sure you leave the marker out near the elves so it looks like they are the ones that got crafty overnight. What is fun about this one is when the kids get to take the bananas to school in their lunch too!
Marshmallow Bath Time
The kids love bubble baths and so do the elves. We move the elves into the bathroom for this Elf on the Shelf idea. Fill up a mixing bowl with Marshmallows, dig out some mini rubber ducks and let Peppermint and Cupcake take a bath.
Hanging Around – We Are Watching You!
I always love putting the elves up in the air. It makes them seem even sneakier. For this year we had them do a little acrobatics over the kitchen table. Which made breakfast and dinner even more fun! Tip – use small hair ties to hold them together.
New Friends and A Story
The Elf on the Shelf company sent us a few new items to try through out our Elf on the Shelf fun and this new Elf Pets DVD, book and St. Bernard plush was one of those gifts. We set out the book, DVD and the Elf Pet for an easy find on the weekend. It was great to see the kids read the new book together and watch the newest Elf on the Shelf movie. Such a fun story! But mostly, the St. Bernard plush is what the kids have loved playing with. They are going to be sad when he has to go back to the North Pole.
Stocking Buddies
I love doing the stocking idea not just because it is super easy but I think it ties the whole Elf on the Shelf and Santa idea together. Plus the way we have our living room set up now we get to see our little elf friends even better. Funny story – one of our cats started pawing at Cupcake when she was in the stocking right in front of Teagan. Teagan was in tears thinking that the cat stole the magic from Cupcake. The magic is strong in our house with these elves!
Make sure you check out our Easy Elf on the Shelf Ideas for the Busy Mom too. You will see a recap of our first week with Peppermint and Cupcake!
Well that was our second week of Elf on the Shelf 2018. So far we have had a few bad behavior days but overall, everyone is doing great as Peppermint and Cupcake do their work at reporting to Santa. I cannot wait for the next week of fun we have planned!
