Disclosure: My family and I were provided with a box set of the Mercy books in exchange for our honest review. No other compensation was provided. As always all opinions are my own.
We are a reading loving family so when we have the opportunity to experience a new series that is perfect for the whole family you better believe we take it! Adding the tales of Mercy Watson to our collection has been great for Teagan and even Jude. Today I am excited to share our thoughts on this series and allow you to have the opportunity to enter to win a set of your own! Time to jump in and READ!
We feel in love with Mercy Watson and what I love about this collect is the different “steps” that they offer. Let me start by saying that even my 2nd grader that reads at a 5th grade level really enjoys this series. Obviously, they are quick reads for him but they are engaging and so creative. Not to mention the illustrations are perfect!
Kids and parents alike have been charmed by the exploits of the beloved pig, Mercy Watson, in the six installments of the bestselling and award winning first chapter book series. But now, Mercy returns in picture book form, for the very youngest lap sized readers, to unravel the tale of how she came to live on Deckawoo Drive with the Watsons – a porcine wonder origin story, if you will.
A Piglet Named Mercy – NEW
Mr. Watson and Mrs. Watson live ordinary lives. Sometimes their lives feel a bit too ordinary. Sometimes they wish something different would happen. And one day it does, when someone unpredictable finds her way to their front door. In a delightful origin story for the star of the Mercy Watson series, a tiny piglet brings love (and chaos) to Deckawoo Drive — and the Watsons’ lives will never be the same.
You can pre-order A Piglet Named Mercy here.
We read A Piglet Named Mercy as a family and we loved it. Just like the six chapter books about Mercy, the illustrations and story jumps out and totally engages the readers. Mercy is such a fun character!!
Mercy Watson – the New York Times best-selling series
The six Mercy Watson chapter books are perfect for ages 5-8. It is a great way to get kids ready to step into a chapter book but with the appeal of a great picture book.
Oh, Mercy! Pig out on the first six adventures in the New York Times best-selling series as Mercy takes you through some crazy and fun adventures! Foiling a robber, driving a car, squeezing into a tutu—is there anything the porcine wonder won’t do in her single-minded pursuit of treats, buttered toast, or just a rollicking fun time? And who knows what other adventures twinkle in her mischievous eyes?
- Mercy Watson To The Rescue
- Mercy Watson Goes For A Ride
- Mercy Watson Fights Crime
- Mercy Watson: Princess In Disguise
- Mercy Watson Thinks Like A Pig
- Mercy Watson: Something Wonky This Way Comes
When I saw Teagan completely engaged in the first book, Mercy Watson To The Rescue, I knew this was a perfect books series for her to get excited about!

Introducing the Tales From Deckawoo Drive Books
Yippie-i-oh! Saddle up for a spin-off series starring favorite characters from Kate DiCamillo’s New York Times best-selling Mercy Watson books, the Tales From Deckawoo Drive. Currently, there are 4 books in this series and they are perfect for ages 6-9. When looking over these books I could tell this was the next step up in a reading level. Finding a love for independent reading is a goal for us to teach to both Jude and Teagan. While the Deckawoo Drive books are not fully focused on Mercy Watson that favorite porcine wonder is included in these adventures!
Titles Available:
Leroy Ninker Saddles Up
Francine Poulet Meets The Ghost Raccoon
Where Are You Going Baby Lincoln?
Eugenia Lincoln and the Unexpected Package
Jude has read these but Teagan has not yet, I do think she will be able to do just fine and she is excited to get started.
Reading makes me happy and I love seeing my kids enjoy it too. In a society that screen time is such a part of our daily lives we make sure that reading takes place in our home every day. The key to this is finding books that your kids enjoy. If you have kiddos in your home that are reluctant to pick up a book, I highly recommend the Mercy Watson book series.
Also, if you have a birthday coming up for a 3-6 year old, time to add the NEW “A Piglet Named Mercy” to their gift bag. Giving the gift of a good book is always the way to go! This picture book is one of my favorites now and one that I will be adding to birthday gifts!
