Family Movie Night: Dolittle DVD Now Available
How many of your evenings at home have included a movie? In my house it has been a lot. Once school is done for the day and we get our wiggles out and enjoy some dinner it is time to snuggle up and enjoy a movie as we unwind for the day. Lucky for us, even though we have to stay at home there have been some great movie releases to help these Family Movie Nights be even more fun and exciting. Having evenings like with kids helps me make sure they are feeling supported and safe with all that is happening in our world right now.
When Dolittle hit the theaters, the kids and I decided to take Grandma and Grandpa out for an afternoon at the movies. It was such a fun experience and the movie was a hit. So, you better believe that when Jude and Teagan saw that the Dolittle DVD was available last week they were itching for another Family Movie Night!
Family Movie Night: Dolittle Movie I Spy Printable
Since we had already seen, and loved Dolittle, I knew I wanted to make this family movie night even more fun and interactive. When I went to Walmart to shop for the Dolittle DVD along with my other essentials, I also made sure to visit the cookies and cracker aisle to search for the perfect animal themed treats for our Dolittle movie night snacks and for the I Spy game pieces.
When I started preparing our living room for our Dolittle Movie Night I first asked the kids to gather up as many of their “real” animal stuffed friends and bring them to the couch. I wanted our movie night to be filled with animal friends! It was so fun to see Jude and Teagan running around the house gathering up their animals.
Once they sat down with their stuffed animal buddies, I surprised them with the movie we would be watching! SO EXCITING!! But what made it even more fun for them was when I showed them the cups of animal themed treats. They LOVED this and I loved seeing them checking out the animals in the cups.
Once I put the I Spy Game on the table they knew exactly what to do. Now, keep in mind that a lot of these animals on the Dolittle I Spy printable can be “marked” off in the first scene, so what I suggested is that they could “mark” off the animal if the animal spoke during the movie or had a significant part in a scene. Jude is 9 and Teagan is 7, this allowed for a little extra thinking during the game and movie so get creative the game depending on the ages of your kiddos.
Fun For The Whole Family
It was a lot of fun to watch Jude and Teagan enjoy this great movie and have some fun with animal themed treats, stuffed animal buddies and a game. While the I Spy game did not last the whole movie it was something I know they will remember for years to come. Simple yet meaning moments are incredibly important right now for our kids.

Surprise your family with this themed evening!
Find animal themed treats/snacks to serve during the movie – rather than your typical movie night treats.
Let the kids have something special to drink during the movie – just like if you were going to a movie theater. Juice or soda is a big treat for my kids!
Ask the kids to bring their stuffed animal buddies to the movie. The more the merrier!
Use the I Spy Game for some fun interaction during the movie.
Sit with your family during the movie – I am guilty of this, I often find other things to do during movie night. Enjoy these moments, find your family and savor this time you have with your family.
After the movie, ask your kids what their favorite part of the movie was and what their favorite animal was.
