As 2021 begins I am excited to start a new reading goal.  Today I am sharing my goal for 2021 as well as some of the books I am so excited to jump into!  Just like in years past I will be sharing all of the books I read through out the year.

New Reading Goal - Books On My List. Setting a reading goal. How to stay motivated to read. My new reading goal. Books to read. What books to read in 2021. Should I set a reading goal? Book reviews. Reading goals.

2021 Reading Goal – What Books Are On My List?

2020 did not go as planned and while I did not reach my 2020 reading goal, I am still pleased with the amount of books I read.  I know a number of people that completely exceeded their reading goals last year but for me, I really struggled with picking up my books through the chaos.  That being said, I still finished and reviewed 13 books in 2020.  We must celebrate our wins and get excited to start and create new goals…so here we are!!

Setting My 2021 Reading Goal

For the last six years I have been using the Goodreads reading challenge to help me stay on track and set my yearly reading goal.  This year when I sat down to decide how many books to add to my challenge I decided to go with 24 books.  This is the same goal I had for 2020 and it amounts to two books a month.  Seems super attainable and I hope that I can stay focused and motivated enough to get this done in 2021!!

Follow along with my on Goodreads and make sure you set up your reading challenge goal for 2021 too!

Books On My 2021 List

I realize that there will be many other books available to me as the year goes on, but here are a few books that I really hope to add to my “Books read in 2021” column.  When I pull these books off of my bookshelf I set them aside so they are easy to access when I am ready to pick up a new book to read.

All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin
Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch
High Achiever by Tiffany Jenkins
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins
Love & Olives by Jenna Evans Welch
Mrs. Everything by Jennifer Weiner
The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins

Currently, I am reading (almost done) with The Friends We Keep by Susan Mallery.  This is the second book of the Mischief Bay series, I read the first one last year and it was a really good chic lit book.  Cannot wait to share my first 2021 book review with you all soon!

How Will I Manage My Reading Goal For 2021?

As I stated above, I use Goodreads to help me with my reading challenge through the year.  It helps me to track my progress as I am reading each book as well.  A super motivator for me!  Sure, Goodreads is a great way to help me manage my goal but as I ended yet another year without meeting my super attainable reading goal, I decided I had to find something else to help as well.

I have set a mini goal within my big 2021 reading goal.  Reading at least 50 pages per day in my book!  So far, I have been pretty good about this mini goal and it is clear that having that every day goal is helping me actually take the time to read rather than keeping my TV on too long at night.  I love a good Binge on Netflix, but to be honest, those binges have made my love for reading and books take a back seat!  NOT ANYMORE!!

I was really proud of myself in regards to reading in 2020 and I have to say Censie you inspired me. I used to read a lot but then you have a child and your reading shifts over to children’s books. By the time I read with Zander and got stuff done around the house I was too tired to make time to read for myself. With being stuck at home on the weekends during the pandemic I too got tired of binge watching TV. So I got on hoopla and started downloading books. I read 17 books by my favorite author Debbie Macomber. 12 of which were part of the Cedar Cove series. I really enjoyed getting back into the habit of reading for myself. I am about to start a 6 week course for work but when I am done with the class I plan to get back into reading.

Hey!! So I read 48 books last year! I’m a librarian so I love to read. Mostly ebooks but I do love to buy books at Dollar Tree. They have quite the variety and every store has different books. I have almost 12,000 KIndle books! Yup!! Right now I am reading a suspense thriller called “Trust Me” by Sheryl Browne. It is good so far. I have read that Emily Giffin. It is good. I can’t wait for the next one! Have you tried Kristin Hannah? Amazing! Or Karen KIngsbury? I have read all those Cedar Cove books by Debbie Macomber mentioned by Rebecca in the previous comment. I do want to read “Educated” by Tara Westover. Nonfiction about the educational system.
