Leadville is located in the heart of the Colorado Rockies,
two miles above sea level. Leadville
is the highest incorporated city in the United
States.  This historic mining town is
nestled in a high valley among snowcapped mountains.

I have talked about our cabin trips on this blog a lot.  It is no secret that Jeremy’s family has a
cabin in Leadville Colorado and we love when we have the chance to take
multiple family trips throughout the summer.
So far this summer we have had the opportunity to visit 2 times!

Last weekend our trip happened to fall on a special weekend
in Leadville Colorado.  Undoubtedly the
BIGGEST weekend in Leadville.  Let’s be
real, Leadville is a typical small mountain town, but last weekend it was bustling
with history, fun and activities.

“Leadville Boom Days” is a Colorado Mountain Festival and historical celebration of the Old West, with gunslingers, burro races, contests of mining skill, and a street fair with over 100 food and craft booths.
We had a fantastic time as a family.  The parade on Saturday morning was
great.  Jude especially had fun once he
figured out that if he waves to the people walking they would throw candy at
him!!  Loved it, and Jeremy left with his
short pockets full of candy for Jude.

We really enjoyed seeing the town full of Old West dressed
folks, it was fun to see what Leadville would have looked like so long
ago.

While we were there we enjoyed shopping and eating at all of
the great food and craft booths.  So much
to look at.  Jude even got to play his
first carnival games.  He picked the
balloon dart game and he came so close to popping those balloons, and even
though he didn’t pop one the game runner was so kind to let him choose a
dinosaur stuffed animal.  I was
impressed!

I think we are going to try to make it a tradition to visit
Leadville on Boom Days weekend from now on!
If you are looking for something to do the first weekend in
August make sure you put this on your list if you are visiting Colorado!  AND if you are ever wanting a great mountain
town to visit in Colorado, Leadville is perfect!!  We hope you visit!
Jude’s face cracks me up here!  Just not too sure about this guy!  lol
