Disclosure:  We were provided advanced screening tickets free of charge in exchange for our review of Moana.

Moana is now in theaters!!!  And it is a must see for the whole family.  Meaning, skip dessert and head to the theater tomorrow afternoon.  No, seriously, it is worth waiting for pie.  Yesterday evening we started our Thanksgiving weekend a little early by taking the kids to dinner and the movie theater to see Moana.  We left the theater all in awe of Disney’s newest creation.  Wow, just wow.
We love all Disney movies and with a little princess on our hand we have our fair share of the traditional Disney princesses – but let me be the first person to tell you that Moana is not like the other princesses.  In fact, Moana reminds me of Teagan – a beautiful, strong willed, brave, caring and boundary breaker young lady.
This movie is full of adventure, laughs and amazing music.  But most of all, this movie is full of inspiration to follow your heart and dreams.

Synopsis:

The film, starring Auli‘i Cravalho (voice of Moana) and Dwayne Johnson (voice of Maui), opens in theatres in 3D this Thanksgiving.

Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one knows exactly why. From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli‘i Cravalho) meets the mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity. Directed by the renowned filmmaking team of Ron Clements and John Musker (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess & the Frog”), produced by Osnat Shurer (“Lifted,” “One Man Band”), and featuring music by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Mancina and Opetaia Foa‘i, “Moana” sails into U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016.

Oh and make sure you stay past the credits – there is a fun surprise after those roll.  Thanks to the husband for making us stick around!  ha!
