This post brought to you in a partnership with Capital One.

I have always loved traveling and now that the kids are older it seems so much easier to get back into the travel swing of things.  I think Jeremy and I have passed on our love of exploring and traveling on to both of the kids too and I am really happy with that because we have so much more to see.  Living in Colorado we are so lucky to have access to so many adventures, getaways and experiences right in our backyard.  That being said, we are trying to enjoy our great state of Colorado as a family with special trips and outings.  Last weekend we were able to experience something a little different in our neck of the woods and it was quite the adventure.

Find Your Next Adventure at Venture Dome

Honestly, this time of the year so busy that we often forget to take time and just hang out as a family.  Finding fun activities and events to do as a family is important to us, especially on the weekend.  We have never been the family that vegges out at home – like I said we love adventures!

Last weekend we did just that, we got to do a little exploring in Colorado by visiting the Destination Venture Dome by Capital One at the Rink in Belmar.  As you can see the December weather was not so wintery but we did enjoy some winter adventures all while wearing sunscreen and sunglasses!  HA!

About Capital One Venture Dome

The Destination Venture Dome offered a chance for us to taste, experience and immerse themselves in different cultures from both Colorado and around the globe.  This set-up was absolutely amazing and totally an experience for any age or personality.  Some of the activities that were available at the Venture Dome were some Workout classes hosted by Colorado Athletic Club and November Project, drinks and eats from local Denver restaurants, 360-degree projection of some of the world’s most captivating travel destinations, and kid-friendly activities like the balloon artist (who was absolutely amazing!)

As I said, when we look for fun things to do as a family I always want my kids to be entertained and as you can see from the moment we walked up to the Venture Dome the kids were having fun.  They were either playing corn hole, chasing big foot, eating some yummy snacks or experiencing skiing for the first time.

We were lucky enough to get some sample some delicious food while at the dome as well.  Oh my gosh, this risotto dish was so good.  Even the kids gobbled it up.  What a treat!  Not to mention the delicious hot chocolate and hot apple cider.  Totally a hit with the kids.

Once we walked into the dome we were all captivated by the amazing 360 view on the dome.  Talk about inspiration for travel.  These views had us all wanting to head up to the mountains then and there.  Beautiful.  Well, while we didn’t decide to go up to the hills we did have Jude try the ski simulator.  Full disclosure – even as a Colorado native, I am not a skier!  Which means, neither are my kids but Jude jumped on and was ready to learn.  It took him a little encouragement but he did it and he loved it.  I guess we will be hitting the slopes one of these days with him after all.

While we were in the dome I made sure that I took the Capital One traveler quiz just to see what type of traveler I am.   Apparently I am a “wayfinder” traveler.  While I would not have guessed this off the top of my head I do see that as the kids are getting older I am putting myself out there and wanting the whole family to explore more, see more and experience more.  So, I guess this does match my budding travel personality.
