I realize how lucky I am to be able to work from home full-time, especially on these very cold and snowy days in winter. No more driving in crazy winter weather only to be two hours late to work. I do not miss those days AT ALL. That being said, now that I am nearly 2 years into my work from home full-time gig I do find that there are things that I really do miss about heading off to work outside of the home every day. One of those things is my morning routine.
Kicking Up My Morning Routine with Left Field Farms
Man, I had that down to a science when I was working in an office. It was like clockwork from the time the alarm went off in the morning until the clock at work hit noon. SCIENCE! And I feel like, even though I was in a job that I was not happy with, I was healthier. Let me explain.
Now that I am at home, my schedule differs pretty much every day. Sure there are some things or tasks that happen daily but for the most part I find myself with a new day every day. Again, something to be thankful for but there are days that my routine, especially my morning routine just gets away from me. When I would go into work every morning, I would have a breakfast at my desk at a decent hour. Now I find myself not eating “breakfast” until lunchtime. Talk about throwing off my schedule! Oh and if I am totally honest, there are times that I do not put my face on or shower until after lunchtime!! Eek! Not good!!
So, in true January fashion, I am sharing my NEW morning routine and how it is going so far for 2019. This includes making more time for me, when the house is quiet. Again, I know how blessed I am to have this work schedule which means it is time to take advantage of it! For starters I am sharing a super easy and yummy morning fruit bowl recipe that I have really enjoyed lately. Not only is it filled with my favorite rice flake cereal but it is topped with fresh fruit and then drizzled with a secret ingredient! SO GOOD!!
Morning Fruit Bowl Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup rice flake cereal – plain
1 kiwi – skinned and sliced
2 strawberries – sliced
Handful of blueberries
Handful of blackberries
2 TBSP Left Field Farms Vanilla Creamer
Directions:
1. Pour the dry rice flake cereal into a large cereal bowl.
2. Prepare your fresh fruit by washing and slicing.
3. Top the rice flake cereal with the freshly washed and sliced fruit. To make this dish even more appealing to my morning tummy I make sure to create a bit of an art piece with the fruit. So pretty!
4. Carefully drizzle the Left Field Farms Vanilla Creamer over the fruit and cereal. ENJOY immediately.
Yes, you read that right! Left Field Farms Vanilla Creamer in your cereal bowl to create this yummy morning fruit bowl recipe. Now, I am not one for soggy cereal and really love my cereal has a crunch, if you like a soggy bowl of cereal, this probably is not the type of breakfast you would enjoy. This fruit bowl is filled with yummy fresh fruit and just enough crunch to be a satisfying and filling crunch but the best part is the addition of the Left Field Farms Vanilla Creamer. This drizzle is just enough to coat the fruit with a nice sweet taste.
After trying this recipe I started thinking about all of the great ways these delicious Left Field Farms Creamers, that I have added to my refrigerator, could be added to other favorite dishes. The options are pretty much endless. Muffins, coffee cakes, smoothies, oatmeal, and of course coffee!
Making My Morning Routine Work For Me!
Now that you have seen this delicious morning fruit bowl recipe that I have been enjoying for the last few weeks it is time to give you a little more of an update on the changes I am making in this morning routine. Breakfast is planned and breakfast is served, but I decided to take this time after the kids are at school and the husband is at work to spend some time reading. Hey, you have heard about my 2019 reading goal, I have work to do!
So, I make my breakfast, brew a cup of coffee, and sit and read! Not for long, just enough time to eat and start my day off in peace. Once that time is complete I am off to work. I have found myself way more focused and ready to tackle my list of things to do now that I have started this routine AND to top it off, I have already read 3 books this month!!! There is a lot of good found in life when we finally decide to take care of ourselves – self-care is super important for every working parent.
