Disclosure: My family and I were provided with screening tickets in exchange for this honest review and post.
Do you remember the first time you saw the trailer for Disney’s Live Action DUMBO? Oh I do and the release date seemed so far away but guess what friends? It is HERE!!! In just a few days DUMBO will soar into the theatre and the wait will be over. DUMBO has always been one of those Disney movies that I really enjoyed watching but that often gets forgotten. I took the kids and my mom to the DUMBO screening here in Denver and it was an incredible film, one we will be watching again very soon.
Disney Studios Presents DUMBO
From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the all-new grand live-action adventure DUMBO expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight. Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlists former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets
Our Review Of DUMBO
For this special screening I took Jude, who is 8 years old, Teagan, who is 6 years old and my mom. We were all so excited to see how Disney recreated this classic. I knew going into the movie that with Tim Burton producing that it would be vibrant and full of energy and character. That being said, while this movie was absolutely incredible it was super intense as well.
I wouldn’t say that Jude or Teagan were ever scared but I do think they were worried about some of the parts ending badly – no spoilers here. This is a movie that we would watch again and DUMBO will always hold a special place in our hearts. He was so CUTE!! Teagan kept saying “oh he is so cute!!” I agree.
Disney added a few new pieces to this story line but also included most of the story from the classic DUMBO story. Jude is very sensitive for an 8 year old and he handled this movie well – even those super intense parts. I would recommend this movie for kids who can handle those intense moments.
We all really enjoyed DUMBO and so happy that we had the opportunity to see it this spring break. Such a treat!!
DUMBO soars into theatres everywhere on March 29, 2019!
