1.    Do Extensive Research

Mother of the bride dresses come in all different styles and designs; you want to ensure whatever you opt for, is something you love. Do your research and try on all the styles you love, the more you search for your perfect outfit – the more you’re going to love the end result. Don’t get upset if you can’t find an outfit within the first few hours of searching as perfection takes time. Researching before shopping gives you the ability to save money and to know what you want and where may have that style in stock. You want to feel confident and amazing in your outfit because even if it isn’t your wedding day, it’s your special daughter’s and all eyes will be on you and her.

2.    Get Organized

The further in advance that you look for a dress, the better deals you’re going to find. There are many dates in the calendar where stores and online retailer will have sales, and this is the ideal time to buy your outfit. Being organized will always save you as much as it will ensure you’ve got your outfit before anyone else. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are ideal times to buy anything, especially expensive outfits such as your dress as there is usually a huge discount.

3.    Shop Online

Regardless of what people say, shopping online for any outfit is a lot more affordable. You can find cheap mother of the bride dresses without any issues online, and that’s virtually a fact. If you’re shopping in a small boutique or store, then you’re going to pay a lot more for a dress that is nearly the same. You may even find that you can search that exact dress online for a fraction of the price in store. It’s one of our top money-saving tips as it’s so simple and effective.

4.    Look for Affordable Alternatives

So many women think the only option is to buy a dress, but there are so many outfit options out there. Typically, pants and a top is a lot more affordable and less money than any dress, so if you want to have an alternative outfit, then you’re most likely going to save money too. This is where our first tip of doing your research comes in; it’s about searching your options and weighing up what will work for you before purchasing your outfit.

5.    Use Accessories You Already Own

Why do you need to buy new jewelry and shoes for the wedding? Using accessories you already own rather than spending a lot of money on unnecessary new ones will no doubt save you a ton of money. The smaller accessories like earrings and necklaces are hardly noticeable and wearing your own will also mean you know they’re wearable and you love the way they look. Wearing your own lovely special occasion shoes or dance shoes are also even more comfortable.

6.    Consider Second-Hand Outfits

There is nothing wrong with taking a trip to the thrift store and considering second-hand outfits they may have. It’s often the case that thrift stores have some beautiful outfits which people haven’t even considered because they aren’t shopping there. You can find dresses and outfits for a huge price saving if you take a look at other second-hand options.

7.    DIY Details on Your Outfit

It’s obvious that buying a plain and simple outfit is a lot cheaper and more affordable than the outfits with a lot of small floral or lace details. However, if you’re creative and love to DIY your outfits, nothing is stopping you from adding little details onto your outfit. Purchase an outfit that is simple and plain (for an inexpensive price) and then add anything you like.

8.    Hire an Affordable Makeup Artist and Hairdresser

When considering the price of your look, you also have to think about your makeup and hair on the big day, not just your outfit. If you’re lucky enough to be a makeup and hair wizard, then you won’t have to hire anyone to do it for you. Yet, if you’re not, it’s more about hiring an affordable person who can do both your makeup and hair. This is sure to save you money in the longer term.

9.    Make a Floral Hair Accessory

Many mothers of the brides tend to opt and choose either cowboy hats, kentucky derby hats or maybe simple fascinators for their daughter’s wedding. This would be a good additional accessory especially if it’s summer but for those wanting to save money and attending a summer or spring wedding; you could forget the hat altogether. Instead, try making your own floral hair accessory out of either real or fake flowers. You can also use flowers with the same colour as the wedding flowers used as decors. They’re beautiful, modern and simple but you’re sure to get many compliments throughout the day for how stunning it looks.

10.    Borrow Shoes from a Friend or Family Member

It’s surprising how people can come together in times of need. If you’re wanting a perfect shoe of a certain color to match your outfit, rather than purchasing some for an expensive price, ask around your friends and family (who have the same size feet as you) if they have any you could borrow. The price of shoes can sometimes be more than your outfit so wherever you can save money would be a great saving for anyone. If they know you’re wanting the shoes for your daughter’s wedding as well they’re more than likely going to be honored you thought of them.

Are there any other tips you would add to this list as we move into wedding season?
