Goodnight Moon Now Showing In Denver Colorado
When I first saw the advertisements for Goodnight Moon in Denver I was immediately taken back to childhood. There are certain books that never seem to leave your mind and Goodnight Moon is one of those for me. From the fun story line to the creative illustrations this is a timeless classic that nearly every child has read.
An Afternoon At The Theater
Last week the kids had fall break and I was trying to think of something fun to do during one of the days off. When I had the opportunity to take them and my parents to see Goodnight Moon I was thrilled. We headed out to Downtown Denver and enjoyed a great time at the theater. Both Jude and Teagan have been to many live performances but with every new show they see the more excited they are to be apart of the theater productions at their school.
When we walked into the theater we were all super excited for the show to begin. The set was simple yet looked identical to the illustrations in the book. Amazing work! We felt like we were right there with the characters.
About Goodnight Moon
As the clock strikes seven o’clock, all your favorite characters in the Great Green Room spring to life on stage: Bunny, kittens and mittens, bears and chairs, the red balloon, a (not-so-quiet) old lady, and – of course – cows jumping over the magical moon.
Featuring whimsical music and dance, this captivating adaptation is produced as a part of the DCPA’s Theatre for Young Audiences program, which focuses on performances tailored for Pre-K through 3rd grade audiences. Bring your children to their first theatre experience and spark their wonder.

Our Thoughts About Goodnight Moon
First of all, hats off to the cast. WOW! These amazing actors played multiple rolls with huge costume changes. I can only image what the backstage process looks like during the show. And with every costume/roll change they instantly walked out (or ran) owning that character! I have to be honest, when we sat down we all wondered how they would make an hour play out a children’s book but they did it perfectly.
Both Jude and Teagan laughed out loud multiple times during the show and thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon. My parents and I had nothing but great things to say about this production. So well thought out, with a great set, and fantastic characters. We left the theater feeling happy that we decided to take in a live show for fall break.
This show is meant for Pre-k through 3rd grade. Jude is in 3rd grade and while the book itself is way too young for him, this production was perfect for him still. Like I said he was laughing and having fun through out the hour performance. The little kiddos that were in the theater with us did start getting antsy about 10 minutes from the end. So be prepared for that with your little one if you take in this show.
We highly recommend taking your young kids to this show when it is playing in Denver. And if you have school aged kiddos, suggest this to your teacher for a fun field trip! I know the school groups that we sat with really enjoyed their day as well.
Tickets start at $16 for weekend matinees and performances are selling out! Best availability for performances after Nov 9. Purchase tickets today.
