I have been cooking and baking up a storm in my kitchen over the last few weeks and one of my very favorite recipes that I have made so far are these delicious and flaky Homemade Biscuits. With just a few ingredients you can easily enjoy these biscuits for breakfast, lunch or dinner!
Easy Homemade Biscuits
I am not a perfect baker or chef so as you tackle this homemade biscuit recipe please keep that in mind. Making homemade bread can be a challenge but this biscuit recipe is sure to be a delicious hit with no stress. I have used these biscuits for breakfast sandwiches, melts for lunch and enjoyed with a hearty meat and potatoes dinner. These biscuits would also be the perfect Biscuits and Gravy biscuit. Time to get baking…in less than 30 minutes you will have some light and flaky homemade biscuits your family will LOVE!
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 TBSP baking powder
2 tsp sugar
½ tsp cream of tartar
½ tsp salt
½ cup chilled butter, salted
2/3 cup milk
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 415 degrees and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a medium mixing bowl combine flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar and salt.
3. Using a pastry blender (if you do not have a pastry blender you can use a fork and knife or even your hands) cut in the butter into the flour mixture until the flour resembles coarse crumbs.
4. Add milk to the mixture and blend with a fork until the mixture comes together.
5. One a floured surface knead dough until it is smooth.
6. Roll out dough until it is about 1/2 inch thick.
7. Cut out dough using a 3 inch biscuit cutter or a round cookie cutter.
8. Arrange biscuits on prepared baking sheet and bake at 415 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown.
9. Serve warm or save in a covered dish for later. ENJOY!
The last time I made this recipe I doubled it so I would have extra for meals to come. I have froze these as well and they seem to hold up okay so that is always an option as well. I am a bread lover but biscuits are by far my favorite kind of bread so I am thrilled that his recipe can be mastered with out stress or many ingredients!
