Finding new and creative meals that the whole family enjoys can be difficult but there is one meal that everyone loves and that is PIZZA NIGHT!!  I decided to add a little twist on our pizza night with this Easy Stromboli recipe.  Not only can it be customized but it is super easy!

A Twist On Pizza Night – Easy Stromboli

Easy Stromboli Recipe, Stromboli recipe, Easy Stromboli, how do you make Stromboli?, make Stromboli at home, Pizza night, family pizza night, family friendly dinners, family dinner ideas

I love a good Stromboli or calzone so I decided to try to make our own for our family pizza night.  I picked up some of our favorite pizza toppings; salami, turkey pepperoni and black olives, and got started!  Keep in mind that your Stromboli fillings can be completely customized.  Add some onions, peppers or even some pineapple (YUM!!).

Ingredients:

1 can refrigerated pizza dough – you can also use homemade pizza dough
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/3 cup marinara sauce
1/2 cup sliced salami
1/2 cup pepperoni slices
1 small can of sliced black olives
1 egg
1 TBSP water
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
1/4 tsp garlic powder

Directions:

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Roll pizza dough out on a lightly floured surface into a roughly 12 x 16 rectangle.

3. Spread marinara sauce over pizza dough, leaving one inch all the way around the pizza dough.

4. Top with 1 cup of the shredded cheese, then salami and pepperoni and olives. Finish with remaining 1/2 cup cheese.

5. Roll pizza dough and toppings up as tightly as possible, doing your best not to push out the toppings as you do so. Stop just before you reach the end.

6. Whisk together egg, water, Italian seasoning and garlic powder.

7. Brush over pizza dough where the edges will meet, then pinch together.

8. Place on prepared baking sheet with the seal down and brush with egg wash.

9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and slightly puffed.

10. Let rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.  ENJOY!!

This Easy Stromboli recipe is kiddo approved.  The refrigerated pizza crust with the garlic butter egg wash makes it delicious!  I am excited to have more Stromboli nights with the kids and see what other fillings we can give a try.  YUMMY!!  The kids and I did not finish our Stromboli the evening that we made it, so we put the leftovers in the refrigerator and enjoyed another Stromboli meal for lunch the following day!  For the record, it was just as yummy for leftovers!
