This Copycat Applebee’s Oriental Chicken Salad is a family favorite. My mom and I both love getting this salad when going to Applebee’s so I decided to try to recreate this delicious and filling recipe. This salad is made with Crispy Fried Chicken, Cabbage, Romaine, Sliced Almonds, Carrot, and Crunchy Chow Mein and tossed in a flavorful homemade Oriental Dressing.
How To Make Applebee’s Oriental Chicken Salad
There are a few restaurants that I do not have to look at the menu when ordering because I always know what I am going to get. While I do get a few different items off of the menu at Applebee’s, this Oriental Chicken Salad is what my mom gets every single time we go there. It is her favorite and it is one of mine as well. I wanted to try to recreate this yummy salad recipe and I think I did a pretty good job. The toppings and yummy homemade Oriental Salad Dressing is what makes this salad perfect!
What I love about this recipe is that it is delicious but also filled with great fresh veggies. I have to be honest, I have never bought a Napa cabbage until making this recipe and now I am looking forward to using Napa cabbage in more salad recipes soon.

Copycat Applebee’s Oriental Chicken Salad
The hardest part of this recipe is the veggie prep and even that isn’t hard. Now, let me also point out that I bought already prepared crispy fried chicken breasts so I did not have to make my own fried chicken. Keep in mind that if you have a great fried chicken recipe you can also use that chicken to top your salad with. It will be fantastic. But, if you are like me, you can purchase chicken breasts in the freezer section that can easily be prepared!
Ingredients:
3 cups romaine lettuce, chopped
1/2 cup red cabbage, chopped
1/2 cup Napa cabbage, chopped
1 carrot, shredded
3 TBSP sliced almonds
2-3 Crispy Fried chicken breasts (I bought mine in the frozen section)
Crunchy Chow Mein Noodles
Prepared Oriental Salad Dressing
Directions:
1. While your salad dressing is chilling you can begin to prepare the veggies for your salad. If you are making your own fried chicken you will want to do that first.
2. Rinse and chop the romaine, red cabbage, and Napa cabbage and mix together into a large salad bowl.
3. Rinse and shred the carrot and add to the large salad bowl combining them with the lettuce and cabbage.
4. Dice the prepared and cooked Crispy Fried Chicken into bite size pieces and add those to the salad.
5. Sprinkle the almonds and chow mein over the chicken.
6. Top salad with the delicious homemade oriental dressing and enjoy!
I was shocked at home much this salad tasted just like the salad I order at Applebee’s. The dressing is to die for and I will be making that again soon since it is so easy to prepare. It is one of my very favorite dressings and it will be perfect on any type of salad this summer. This yummy meal was so easy to make, especially by picking up already prepared fried chicken breasts. Just a little shortcut to make life a little easier!
