As the new school year begins, we are all faced with the unknown and for the most part school will look way different for all of us.  Last spring when the pandemic shut down schools I felt completely unprepared but going into this new school year I am feeling a bit more confident.

This school year is set to be a bit more structured than the end of the school year last year but still in a remote setting for us.  While we have not been told this is a whole year plan we have been told that for the first month of school we will be in a remote setting.  One routine that I plan on continuing with both kids is a simple daily checklist that I created quickly back in March.

Now when I say quickly, I literally mean 5 minutes but this simple printable was a huge lifesaver for the kids and me during that crazy lockdown schooling.  I would print out these checklists every day and place them in front of the kids as we started our day.  I am not a printable creator most of the time so there is nothing super fancy about this one but like I said, it really kept both Jude and Teagan on task.

Since their school schedule is going to be a bit more structured this year even though we are remote I am not adding a ton of tasks surrounding school because from what we have been told they will work live with their class and teacher during regular school hours.  I did leave some blank spaces to add any additional tasks that might need to be completed on a certain day.

Just like in the spring I will be using this daily checklist as a way for the kids to “earn” their screen time every day.  Not only does that give them motivation to check off those tasks but it keeps us all on the same page of what our day should look like.

How are you making sure your kids stay on task during this unusual time?
