Are you counting down the days until school is back in session? It really is hard to believe that we are all gearing up to head back to school! One of the biggest stresses I have through out the school year is coming up with creative school lunches to pack for Jude and Teagan. I usually start off the year completely motivated to be a supermom when it comes to packing lunches but most of the time I send the kids to school with boring sandwiches.
5 Simple & Creative School Lunch Ideas
Lunches can be just as fun as they are yummy. I started thinking about some of the kids favorite meals and decided to convert them into lunches that can be packed in a lunchbox. Here are 5 delicious lunches that kids will be begging for and you will be a supermom!
Toasted Ravioli, peas and carrots, apples.
This lunch may sound fancy, but it’s actually one of the easiest and a fun ‘new’ lunch that is unexpected. You can buy toasted ravioli in your frozen section of your grocery store. Just cook and pack! Make sure you check out these Thermos Tips & Tricks – you will fall in love with using a thermos!
Packing tips: To keep things warm, try Funtainers. They come in a variety of sizes and will keep food warm or cold all day!
Waffles, bacon and strawberries.
Who doesn’t love breakfast for dinner? How about breakfast for lunch? Yes please. You can switch out fruit and protein if your kiddo does not like bacon and strawberries. How about sausage and peaches! YUMMY!
Packing tips: Cutting your waffles into strips makes them perfect for hands to grab and dunk in the syrup. Which is much more fun than eating with a fork! These are great syrup containers.
Make your own pizza, salad, pineapple.
Everyone loves pizza! And kids love being able to layer on their own toppings. A great way to sneak in some veggies and fruit!
Packing tips: What to do for the crust? Buy a pre-made crust and cut into squares that fit into your containers and pre-cook.
Chicken salad, croissant, grapes, kiwis.
Dunk the croissant into the chicken salad or spread as a sandwich – either way, chicken salad is a great lunch item! Add fresh fruit and you have a yummy healthy lunch!
Packing Tips: Instead of croissant you could also pack crackers or even some carrot and celery sticks. Great options.
Chicken nachos, banana.
Who can say no to nachos? Customize your lunch based on your child’s preference. Make a chicken breast ahead of time, shred and include toppings they love! Cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole….the sky is the limit! Kids will love loading up their nachos.
Packing Tips: Use these liners to keep toppings separated.
Well those lunch ideas should help you start the new school year off on the right direction when it comes to feeding the kiddos. All of these ideas can be completely switched up to make even more options for the school year.
