I wish I had an excuse other than LIFE but today, I am finally sharing my last book review for 2021. While I did not make my 2021 reading goal of reading 24 books, I am still proud of my accomplishment of 15 books read in 2021! For my 15th book I picked up a book by my favorite author, Katherine Center. Everyone is Beautiful by Katherine Center was such a great novel all about those moments after you find your happily ever after.

Everyone Is Beautiful by Katherine Center
Lanie Coates’s life is spinning out of control. She’s piled everything she owns into a U-Haul and driven with her husband, Peter, and their three little boys from their cozy Texas home to a multiflight walkup in the Northeast. She’s left behind family, friends, and a comfortable life–all so her husband can realize his dream of becoming a professional musician. But somewhere in the eye of her personal hurricane, it hits Lanie that she once had dreams too. If only she could remember what they were.
These days, Lanie always seems to rank herself dead last–and when another mom accidentally criticizes her appearance, it’s the final straw. Fifteen years, three babies, and more pounds than she’s willing to count since the day she said “I do,” Lanie longs desperately to feel like her old self again. It’s time to rise up, fish her moxie out of the diaper pail, and find the woman she was before motherhood capsized her entire existence.
Lanie sets change in motion–joining a gym, signing up for photography classes, and finding a new best friend. But she also creates waves that come to threaten her whole life. In the end, Lanie must figure out once and for all how to find herself without losing everything else in the process.

My Review of Everyone Is Beautiful
If you have read any of my book reviews in the last few years you know that I absolutely LOVE Katherine Center’s writing. She creates the most amazing characters and storylines. Everyone Is Beautiful, no surprise was just as great as any of the other books I have read of hers. For the most part I feel like Center does a great job of creating stories that make you feel happy. While this book does that as well, I do think it gives a great look into what happens after happily ever after sometimes.
Everyone is Beautiful gives us a glimpse into the not so glamorous life that we all know exists but try to hide. While I would consider this a fun read I did find myself heavily relating to a lot of the angst Lanie was feeling. Why do moms/wives have to be perfect? Why are we held to such expectations? I would recommend this book to anyone but especially to those that are parents. You will find something that you can relate to in this book. Center did a great job of making me think through out this book too…relating to Lanie.
Lanie has lost herself while being a mother and wife. The book follows her through her journey to find herself again. Hits home!
2021…A Year Full Of Great Reads!
Like I said, my goal was not met this year but I sure did enjoy a lot of great books. I read 15 books and 4,630 pages. What I love most about keeping track of my reading is that I see that through out all of the crazy moments in life, I still made time to sit with a book and escape! Self-care at it’s finest! Be on the lookout for a post about my new 2022 Reading Goal and as always, make sure you let me know what you are reading! I love to add new books to my must read list!
