Beginning Friday March 14th I took a two month commitment to myself. Let’s face it, the last 2 years has been a roller-coaster of emotions, health and financial stability. That roller-coaster has effected my weight and body image like whoa! My motivation was in the toilet. I ate when I was hungry, I ate when I was bored, I ate when I was stressed, I ate when I was pissed, and I ate when I was sad. I ate! So food is my drug and I need help.
So now what? I stepped on the scale and felt my stomach sink. I am almost as heavy as I was at 40 weeks pregnant with Teagan. Seriously! Why did I do this to myself AGAIN? I thought about Weight Watchers and knew the success I had with that program but knew I needed something faster, stronger and stricter.
Enter my new lifestyle for at least two months: Medifast.
Medifast isn’t completely new to me. I did this diet for 15 weeks after I had Jude and I lost 27 pounds. It was good for me. It got me on track and ready for a whole lifestyle change with Weight Watchers…then I got pregnant with Teagan and life got crazy stressful which brings us to today.
Why I choose Medifast:
Fast Results: Summer is coming, which means vacations, conferences, swimming pools, shorts and chasing kiddos. If I stay on track (determined too) I hope to lose a total of 30 pounds in my two month commitment, that 30 pounds will get me motivated and ready to see more results. Lets be honest, seeing those pounds melt away is a big deal. And I have over 100 pounds to melt so lets go!
Easy Meal Prep: 6am comes so early on work days. The idea of prepping meals is exhausting. Medifast makes that 6am thinking go away. Simply pack up my meals for the day and I am good to go!
Simple Meal Plan: I still get to eat a “real” dinner with my family. For this plan you have 5 Medifast meals and 1 Lean and Green meal a day. I eat 4 of those Medifast meals at work, then come home for my Lean and Green with my family and then before bed have one more Medifast meal. Eating about every 2-3 hours through out the day really helps me stay on track.
Satisfying: I am not hungry and I am not searching for food at work because I am bored. Eating every 2-3 hours gets me through the work day. I have upped my water intake as well, which keeps those cravings away.
It works for me: This might not be ideal for everyone and my logic might not be your logic but it is what I need right now. I am happy with my commitment and cannot wait to see where these two months takes me.
My only complaint is the cost, it is relatively expensive due to the large one time out of pocket cost but I have cut down on the snacks and other food I normally bought every week at the grocery so it really does even out. Not to mention we haven’t been eating out.
I have all of my food organized in an over the door shoe holder which makes for easy storage and viewing. I am nearing my 2 week mark on program. At 1 week I had lost a total of 6 pounds. Not bad! I am pleased with that weight loss and what to continue sticking to the program.
Week One – 6 pounds lost
My favorite Medifast meal is the Brownie. YUM! Seriously, I missed these when I was off program. This brownie is my nightly reward. It is something that I look forward too after the kids are in bed. It is warm and soft just like any homemade brownie! Great way to end the day.
I will do an update on my progress at 1 month. Wish me luck!
