It is summertime which means fun in the mountains, backyard and park but lets be real, those pesky bugs like to hang out around those places too and those bugs make me crazy! Mosquito are bad this time of the year and while I know bug spray is a must I really dislike the idea of using a ton of chemicals all over my kids skin and my skin.  Soooo it was time to try something new for the season.

Watch out buggies….time to learn how to make your own Bug Repellent with Lavender Oil!  Bring it bugs we will not walk around with giant swollen bites this summer!

We used this spray in our backyard for a big family BBQ and it worked really well.  I sprayed it around the tables and deck to create a barrier for our guests and then some of us even sprayed the mixture on our skin and clothes.  Those pesky Mosquito buggies stayed away!  This is a summer must have!

I've ordered all of the ingredients to make this myself. I can't wait to give it a try.

Awe…what a cute label! I've never thought of making my own repellent, but I bet this smells much better than what I've been using.

Thankfully no bugs near my house but this would be great when the boys go camping. I like the natural ingredients in it.

If I was a bug, I'd love it, but I'm no bug! I love vanilla and lavendar!

Cool idea, I would have never thought to make my own bug spray either, but I was thinking what Gal Needs did, the vanilla and lavendar would make you smell sweeter to them! LOL 🙂

Making this for sure! I have been interested in trying out doTerra, looks like a perfect reason to invest in a little lavender!

At this time of the year with the mosquitoes in full swing here in the Springs I need this. I also know what's in my spray which is really good.

What good timing! I just wrote a newspaper article on lavender and learned about this. I've been using Heritage Lavender mist as a bug repellent on my walks and so far it's working!!! It's simply the water that's left over after they make the oil. I'm sure if I went camping I may need a more heavy duty lavender oil repellent, but so far so good. I am totally addicted to it! Also, I've taken to spraying it on my pillow at night and I do think it helps me sleep. Lavender has all kinds of benefits. You can even clean with it.
