I am a fan of traditions.  The first day of school chalkboard picture on the front porch is now a great tradition that we will continue with Jude and introduce to Teagan once she begins school. Another tradition that I wanted to start in our home was a big celebration of the first day of school once everyone is home for the evening.  To do this I wanted some easy to make snacks that would make for a fun dinner for everyone.  My goal is to continue this tradition as the kids get older in hopes that we can sit down for a fun dinner and hear all about the first day of school.  What a great time to have some memories and family time.

I picked up some quick snacks that I knew I would be able to make special with out much hassle for all of us to enjoy after Jude got home from school.  I went with some Bagel Bites because both Jude and Teagan adore pizza but have never tried these adorable little bite size pizzas that are made with Real Cheese and homemade sauce with 0g of trans fat!  For dessert I picked up something that I hadn’t ever thought to try but these looked delicious, I am a sucker for any cherry dessert.  Delimex Fruit Cherry Taquitos, another fun snack that would make our Back to School Celebration yummy!
Let me also tell you a little family tradition that I have had since I remember.  Doughnut Towers.  Instead of birthday cake on our birthdays my mom would buy doughnuts and would make us a tower of them and top them with a candle.  This let us all be picky about what kind of doughnut was our favorite.  It was a win win for my mom.  No baking and everyone is happy!  So I decided to put a really fun spin on that Doughnut Tower tradition that we have continued.

Fun right?  Our Bagel Bite Tower was a hit.  Jude saw me building it and was just laughing.  I was so excited when I saw the Bagel Bite Tower working well.  I knew it would be a hit for everyone.  An after school snack made into a memorable tradition.

We decided to have Jude take a picture with his Bagel Bite Tower just like we do for birthdays.  Maybe this will be yet another tradition and I can find all kinds of snack food to build towers with!   Even though we had to pull teeth to get Jude to tell us about his new friends at school we had a great evening Celebrating Back to School.  If anyone has any tips on how to get your preschooler to tell you about his day please pass them along!  We have tried everything!

I might be over sharing this cute little Bagel Bites Tower but I absolutely love the way it turned out!!

After we enjoyed our Bagel Bites for dinner, I was informed by Jude that he needed dessert – maybe a doughnut tower.  HA!  Sorry kid, only one tower a night for us!

I quickly whipped up the Delimex Fruit Cherry Taquitos and instantly our home smelled like I spent hours in the kitchen baking a cherry pie!  Yum!  Jude is like me, he loves anything cherry, that is why I decided he would be pretty excited to try these fun snacks.  After our Celebration dinner we had enough time to run to the park and enjoy the evening on the swings.  The best part about this dinner was that it wasn’t a hassle so both Jeremy and I got to enjoy Jude’s stories and celebrate the new school year with out worrying about prep time and clean up!
Right now you can jump into this celebration by heading to your local Walmart to pick up some Bagel Bites and Delimex products.  If you do this now you can even save some money with a Bagel Bites coupon and a Delimex coupon!  Stock up now at Walmart in the freezer section!
