Adoption – it is something that is near and dear to my heart. The main reason – I am adopted. 31 years ago my parents got a call when I was just a couple weeks old; we have a baby for you! What an amazing call to get as adoptive parents! Sure they were blessed, but I was and still am the winner! I was given the gift of loving parents. What an amazing gift. Being just an infant, I truly had no idea how lucky I was, but now I know.
This is my parents and me on the day I was brought home. Those two, they were in for a ride of fun, struggles and love! I think I still give them all of those aspects of life even as an adult. Five years after my adoption, they were blessed enough to bring home another baby, my brother. We both grew up knowing that we were adopted and frankly we didn’t care, our adoptive parents were our Mom and Dad. No questions asked, we were a family.
My family loves supporting anything that supports Adoption. There is something about being involved with Adoption that warms my heart. As I have grown into an adult I have learned so much about life and what COULD have been if I was not adopted by my parents. My life would not have been as productive, carefree and full. Blessed.
I am sure all of you have stopped into your local Wendy’s® and saw information all about the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Well, now is your chance to not only support the amazing act of Adoption but also enjoy some delicious Frosty treats. Visit your local Wendy’s® to purchase a Jr. Frosty™ Halloween Coupon Book* for $1, which benefits the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption® beginning now through October 31st.
Really this is a win-win in my book. Donating to a great and needed cause and getting treats for it!
Jeremy and I took a trip to Wendy’s® this weekend and purchased a couple coupon books and of course let the kiddos indulge in some Frosty treats as well. As I was sitting there watching Miss Teagan make a complete mess of herself and her cute clothes I smiled. I smiled at the memories being made. I smiled at the honor I have of being Teagan and Jude’s mommy. What a blessing!
Jude knows how special he is and that is something that every child deserves. The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption® believes that we have a responsibility to be the voice of foster care adoption, so that every child finds a family. As founder Dave Thomas said, “These children are not someone else’s responsibility. They are our responsibility.” The DTFA exist to find homes for children who are waiting to be adopted from foster care in North America. Thanks to Wendy’s® consumers and the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®, 4,000+ children have found adoptive families.
If spending a couple bucks on a treat that I will already buy helps another child find their forever home and get to spend special moments like eating ice cream with their parents – that is so worth it. I cannot imagine not having a forever home. How scary of a world that has to be for those kiddos. Seeing the innocence in my children’s eyes makes me know that this cause is a challenge and thanks to DTFA those more than 100,000 children in foster care waiting for adoption need our help. They need Adoption – they need to be a blessing in someones life and home just like my brother and I were to my parents.
This is a face of happiness, a face that we love; time for more kids to feel that love in their forever home. We decided to use our coupons as Good Behavior Treats. Jude and Teagan will be able to earn these treats by having good weeks this winter. Such an easy but fun idea that will bring more Frosty Faces and memories.
This year, Wendy’s® aims to give $10 million to The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®. So help them reach that amazing goal by heading to your local Wendy’s® and purchasing a couple coupon books.
That is awesome!
I've always viewed adoption as such a blessing! So glad that your parents took you and your brother in and everyone's lives are for the better because of it!
This is such a great cause!
Your photos are AWESOME. 🙂 I absolutely adore this post and the personal love you have for adoption. I'm just 19, but I desperately want to adopt one day. What a blessing it is!
I was already planning on purchasing some of these the next time I went to Wendy's. But after reading your touching story, I may just make it there a bit sooner & get them as treats for my kids fall parties at school. 🙂
I have always been interested in adoption. A lot of my friends growing up were adopted. I hope someday my husband and I are in the position to adopt.
