Fun and Creative Snow Day Activities for Kids.  Get outside, have some fun and enjoy the snow with these creative activities.  We all love sledding and building snowmen but these activities will get those creative juices flowing!

Winter is here!  In fact, here in Colorado we are being told we could have over a foot of snow by tomorrow.  This means we might have a long weekend at the house but fear not parents – we can have fun in the snow and cold too!!  Bundle those kids up and send them outside and be prepared for some fun games and activities to get that cabin fever to go away for a bit.

We love going sledding but here are some other ideas that are on our must try list this weekend!!

Winter Ice Sun Catcher Craft

Take advantage of those freezing cold temps and make something pretty!  Here in Colorado even if it is snowing and freezing we usually see the sun so this would be perfect!!  Check out this Winter Ice Sun Catcher Craft from Tracy Lynn Conway!

Frozen Bubbles Experiment

We have tried this and it works!!  We have been told to expect very cold weather this weekend so I am hoping we can attempt this again.  Talk about a teachable moment in the cold!  Make sure you check out the details from what do we do all day before you attempt these bubbles!

Snow Glow Sticks

Well we have done the glow stick baths so I guess we need to try this too!  I know that the kids would get a kick out of this and what a great way to burn some energy before bedtime!  Simple yet fun for everyone!!  Simple Fun For Kids has some great tips for this snow activity!

Create Colorful Icicles

Now this would be a great activity for older kids who are feeling the cabin fever.  This is a pretty big activity and it takes time and patience, not sure if we are there yet with Jude but I am really anxious to do this in the next couple of years.  Housing a Forest makes it look easy so check out the details and have fun!!

Potato Heads in the Snow

Okay, how have I never thought of doing this?  We have so many potato head accessories so I am already planning this as one of our first activities once we see enough snow in the yard!!  I cannot wait to see the potatoes we end up with in our front yard!!  So creative – thank you Happy Hooligans for this brilliant idea!

Snow Paint

The Sits Girls makes this project look easy.  Thanks to theme I picked up all the supplies and we are ready for some pretty rainbow snow!  I know that Teagan will love this idea because she is a big coloring girl.  She will think it is so cool to color the snow!!

Snow Ice Cream

Kristen from Mama Luvs Books has had her fair share of snow this winter so she took the time to teach us out to have a little treat from all that snow!  I am a Colorado native and I have never made Snow Ice Cream!  That will need to change!!

Snow Volcano

Jude did the Volcano experiment in class last year so I think trying it in the snow will only make it even cooler!!  My Nearest And Dearest shows us how it is done!  I think it would be fun to have a couple of different colored volcanoes going at the same time!!

Snow Tic Tac Toe

Yes!!  This is so fun!  It would be a great way to do a little hunt through out the back yard for “pieces” and then we can do a giant Tic Tac Toe game board on the patio!!  I think this might be a fun activity for the parents too!!  Check out this idea and other snow activities from Parents here.

Make sure you end your day in the snow with some Snow Angels!!  These are our cute snow angels!  Now bring on the snow and make sure you have some fun when the snow hits!!

Pin these ideas for later!  I promise your kiddos will have so much fun on these snowy days!!

What is your favorite thing to do in the snow?

You have such great ideas! And considering that it doesn't seem like the snow is going away anytime soon, we will definitely have to do some of them.
