I am all about honesty here on the blog and here is some big honest truth for you – Motherhood is amazing!! It’s the truth!! Now, there are some thing…errr issues that have changed since having kids but they are all issues that I am working on dealing with.
The first issue that I find myself dealing with and worrying about quite often is bladder leakage. Yup! I said it! It happens to me. Oh excuse me while I go sit down so I can sneeze – believe me I wish that wasn’t a normal routine but it is!! Yikes. While it is embarrassing to talk about it really is something that a lot of women my age deals with – sometimes that beautiful gift of birthing babies lead to this lovely issue.
Here is a fact that surprised me but also made me feel better about the little gift my adorable kids gave me. More people with bladder leakage are in their 20’s than their 80’s! Crazy right? Also the average age of someone with bladder leakage is only 52! Wow!
So now that I am aware the my bladder leakage is common I needed to find a way to deal with it. Recently, I found out about a social movement with the well known company Depend. Depend is entering year two of Underwareness, a social movement and charitable cause to break down the bladder leakage stigma. As part of Underwareness, the Depend brand is encouraging people to show their support for women with bladder leakage. For every photo and video shared using #Underwareness and featuring Depend products, the Depend brand will donate $1, up to $3 million, through 2016 to fund charities that advance the research and education of bladder leakage. Great project right?!
No more excuses!! Working out, loving motherhood and depending on my Depend Silhouette Active Fit! Please visit the Depend website for your FREE samples of the Depend Silhouette Active Fit briefs. And if you are ready to support the cause – make sure you join the #Underwareness project!
Have you found that your bladder control changed after having children?
I don't have leakage issues, but there is a whole group of moms in my zumba class who do & there is always a collective sigh when a song with jumps comes on!
It's great that their are products to address this embarrassing situation.
They're really wonderful. And so discreet. I don't have leakage but I used Depends for the postpartum period after the hospital and it helped so much.
I haven't seen a change in bladder leakage after kids, but while pregnant….OH YES! That was the worst! Glad to see there is a product available to help.
Good to know there is a great product available for women who need it.
This is definitely a common issue so these are really nice. I like how discreet they are!
Good to know something discrete is available should the situation arise
Nothing to hide when you are a mom! My mom (cough) used them (cough)! I'll be next to be sure! Great information!
I never had issues until after my third child was born. i keep telling my OB and she just says to do exercises.
So many women share this issue so it's great that you're bringing it out in the open so no one's embarrassed about it.
You got the nail on the head! I struggle not only with sneezing but with any kind of exercise that involves jumping or jolting motions
I know these are in my future after 3 kids naturally. I already get nervous when I see a trampoline near by.
I like that they look more like underwear. I had the challenge briefly with my first child (and I was young!) and then again with my last one. Nice to know there are products for such things that are made w/such considerations.
Depend sounds like a reputable brand and that they are changing with the times. They seem more discreet and comfortable which makes them a better option for younger women who need some confidence building protection!
My dad used Depends before he died and it was a lifesaver not just for him but my mom as well. I know that when I'm too old to do anything for myself, this is what I want.
My friend is just starting to experience this. I am sharing your post with her.
I work out with the old ladies at the gym (40 – 50 years old) and everyone complains about this Good to have a solutions to prevent embarrassment.
I've heard of Bladder leakage during and after pregnancy. I like that Poise made these look sleek and trendy instead of bulky.
Thankfully that is not one of the issues motherhood has left me with!
This plagued me for awhile in my 20's thanks to kids. Thanks to a lot of kegels it's not an issue anymore.
Bladder control is only one of many things that changed! I feel like my whole body is different now. The leaks are not appreciated, though, since I've started running marathons since my kids were born. Depend just might be a good answer! (But shhh…don't tell anyone.) 😉
Bladder leakage is one of those things nobody tells you about! Kegels are your friends. 🙂
It is an issue many have. Glad there is a good product.
Love your gym shoes. Bladder leakage is real and something that so many of us deal with! Good on ya for getting your work out on!
