Fishing Derby Fun For The Kids

For the last couple of years we have taken Jude to a local Fishing Derby in Northglenn Colorado.  It is held on the first Saturday of June every year – for those of you who are Colorado readers you should know that the first weekend of June is a free fishing weekend!  That means anyone and everyone can fish with out a license!  Nice!
We always arrive pretty early for the derby and find our spot.  Jude was ready to fish!  It was a perfect morning, not too cold for once!
This was Teagan’s first year attending the Fishing Derby and goodness she was excited!

Silly kiddos!  Teagan picked out her first fishing pole the night before the derby.  She, of course, picked out a pink princess pole!  Classic Teagan!!

Oh no!!  Worms!!!!   Thank goodness Teagan and Jude have a daddy that loves to fish and put worms on hooks!  Not mommy’s thing at all!!

Learning that the art of fishing takes a lot of patience and staying quiet was kind of difficult for Jude this year.  But he did well.  Such a big boy in these pictures – hard to believe he will be 5 in a few short weeks!

This picture cracks me up.  My view of the kiddos and Jeremy.  Jeremy is holding each of their fishing lines so they do not get tangled up.  So funny.
Even after fishing for close to 2 hours we didn’t have any luck.  Not bites or anything!  Bummer!!  But the kids and Jeremy had a great time.  Teagan especially loved to reel in the line…over and over!!

A girl and her daddy sitting at the lake.  Precious picture!
Have you and your family enjoyed a local Fishing Derby before?

I love this. My daughter loves fishing and takes her two year old son. When they take him they go to a pond that been pre filled with fish making it easier for the kids to catch.

My kids have never been fishing even though we've been here for over 3 years in CO. Coming from a city like NYC it's not something we do.
