Hard to believe that the Spider-Man extravaganza is already over for our big 5 year old!  What a fun birthday party it was too!  Great friends and family came to celebrate Jude – memories and fun!  We had the same backyard pool party that we always do for Jude’s birthday party because the weather is perfect for it in June.  We invite anyone that wants to come – seriously, his birthday party usually doubles as our big summer bash.  Great time!

Jude is the one that picked out his theme of Spider-Man.  It really was a fun theme to work with too.  I started my planning with a little online shopping with Oriental Trading Company.  I was so happy to see the great Jumbo Superhero Word Cut Outs that created our backdrop for our food buffet. I also found all of our Spider-Man tablecloths, napkins and plates at Oriental Trading Company – one stop shop!  Love that.  I knew that I wanted to make a special Mac & Cheese Bar full of kid and adult friendly toppings  – it was a HIT!  I will be posting another post with free printables later.

Instead of doing a personalized shirt for Jude this year we decided to go with a new Spider-Man shirt that he could wear over and over again.  We also surprised him with a new Spider-Man swimsuit on his actual birthday!  He was so excited to wear it to his pool party.

This is my 7th birthday party I have planned for my kids and every year I start my planning with the invitation.  I am a sucker for snail mailed invites still and I always find one with a photo on the invite because I feel like it gives the opportunity to remember what the child looked like that year.  This year I found the Spider-Man invite on Etsy – the shop is called Pretty Paper Pixels.  Amazing shop – great quality and super fast turnaround.

I added a little more fun to the food and cake table by hanging some great red lanterns from the ceiling and a fun Spider-Man cut out in the middle of the room.  People knew exactly what kind of party we were having!

To invite our guests into the party I decided to create a Spider-Man Door Wreath.  Surprisingly it was super easy and I got a ton of compliments!  Check out my Spider-Man Door Wreath tutorial here.

Now, first I must disclose – I have an amazing Mother-in-law that hears my party ideas and does not question me.  Instead, she gets on the living room floor with black trash bags and scissors and helps me with the creative dream.  Second – she made these, I cannot take credit for them!  They turned out amazing right?  And, from what I saw and she told me – super easy!!!

Make your own Spider-Webs:

Materials Needed:

Large Black Trash Bags
Scissors
Silver Marker
Tape

Directions:

1.  Start with the black trash bag, trim off the sides and bottom off of each bag – leaves you with 2 pieces.

2.  Cut each one into a square shape instead of a rectangle. Do not over think this step – eyeballing the square is perfectly fine.

3.  Fold one corner up to the next, making a triangle. Fold the triangle in half to make a smaller triangle and in half again.

4.  We found that the plastic did slip some – use a few small pieces of tape to hold the sheet together.

5.  Using a silver marker, draw lines onto the bag where you will be cutting.

6.  Using sharp scissors, cut along the lines you drew.

7. Once all the pieces are cut out, remove the tape and unfold!  Spider Webs!!

8.  Hang on the wall or the doors for a great decoration!

Our famous “Cake Lady Friend” knocked this one out of the park!  PERFECT!!  Once again I got so many questions about where we got our cake.  We are so blessed with our cake lady – that is what Jude had named her.  She has been my friend since Kindergarten!  Thank you Julie!!  Jude’s request this year was Strawberry cake.  Yummy!!

Amazing right??  It all came together perfectly!!  KaPow!!  Spider-Man Party for the win!!
What party themes are you working on this year?

What a cute party theme and a great idea. We had a Spiderman Birthday party for Tyler but it wasn't nearly this cool. Thanks for the great ideas for next time.
