They always say that family road trips are the best.  Look, I don’t know who THEY are but they have certainly not been on a Road Trip with my kids.  Sure, we have had our memories and fun in the car on our multiple in state road trips this year but goodness knows we have had our struggles too.
We hit the road all packed and ready for a few great weekends away and the moment we leave the driveway it begins.  The fighting, the questions (SO MANY QUESTIONS), the “are we there yet” phrase, and the obnoxious noises; all while we are in the front seats praying for motion of the car to put them asleep.  You know that book “Go the F to Sleep”?  Yes, that one, I know you have read it.  I play that in my head on these car trips!  HA!
Disclosure – I adore my children, the memories we make on these trips make my heart whole…but I am human and my kids are wild.

When that Road Trip angel finally gets our pleas we see the drool, hear the snoring and we cringe at what their necks must be feeling when their chins reach their belly buttons!  Parents time to enjoy the quiet!  Sweet silence and for us it is time to enjoy the amazing Colorado scenery that we rarely have a chance to sit back in enjoy.
After a few of our trips and the stress that we both felt once we hit that silence period of the trip I decided to make Jeremy and me a perfect little treat to help us get through these Road Trips a little easier.  I am always so focused on keeping the kids happy that then we are sometimes left eating crumbs from the snacks I gave the kids.  Not okay!  On our last Road Trip of the summer I surprised Jeremy with this amazing little Road Trip Survival kit!

Parental Road Trip Survival Kit

This kit is packed full of treats to help us have the Best Road Trip Ever!  I stopped at Safeway and stocked up on so many of our favorites to put in our kit.  Not only did this help us enjoy the trip more but it also saved us money from having to pick up our own drinks and snacks when we would stop for breaks.  So simple.

Some of the items that I found at Safeway and  I decided to put in our kit included:
Mountain Dew bottles – Jeremy’s coffee basically and perfect size for traveling.
Gevalia Iced Mocha Coffee – I need real coffee and these are so good and refreshing!
Peanut Butter M&M’s – who doesn’t love Peanut Butter and Chocolate?
Wheat Thins – one of my favorite snacks to pick up.
Orbit Gum – we travel in the mountains, which means gum is a necessity for altitude changes!
Altoids – Great way to freshen up after a long drive.

We did share some of our treats after the kids woke up but I will tell you, this simple Parental Road Trip Survival Kit made our trip so much better.  Sometimes we have to remember ourselves in the family equation and a kit like this does the trick.

I always had to over prepare for car trips. My kids would not enjoy them at all without snacks and entertainment.

Keeping a survival kit in the car is a great idea. I love that there is iced coffee in there.

I love the colours of the snacks .. Snacks are mandatory for Road trips with Kids. They will ger "hangry" and restless without them

Two years ago we drove from Maine to Disney World with 4 kids in 1 minivan. LOL…It actually was pretty good…we made sure to have both grown-up and kid snacks and lots of electronic devices to keep everyone sane! lol

My kids would be getting bored into the road trips without snack and gadgets. So in our last road trip i buy them an snack and bring their gadgets, they will be enjoying the whole hour in the car

I LIVE on caffeine while road tripping. Those iced coffees sound incredible. And let's not forget the importance of munchies!
