TTC – Top Foods That Can Help You Get Pregnant

 
Most of us have been there – we all think that TTC is a no brainer but then we are challenged by our body and science!  I have shared both of my Trying to Conceive stories here multiple times, they weren’t bad stories but challenging for us as a couple.  We have been blessed with two amazing and healthy children and for that, we are so thankful but we know the struggle affects so many couples in our world.  You feel like you are doing everything right but still that pregnancy test is coming up negative.  Frustrating and heartbreaking!

When the struggle of Trying to Conceive enters a person’s life they try everything!  Did you know that there are certain foods that can actually help you get pregnant?  Obviously, eating these foods will not be a guarantee but they may help in the process.

Top Foods That Can Help You Get Pregnant:

 
Ice Cream:  Sign me up!!  Pick up the good stuff too – studies show that 2 servings of whole milk or whole milk products protects the body from ovulatory infertility!   Keep that full fat stuff around – the fat free milk can create an unbalance of sex hormones which in turn affects fertility.  
 
Leafy Greens:  Okay, back to reality, you cannot just eat ice cream.  Spinach, romaine, arugula, broccoli, and other dark leafy greens are high in folate, a B vitamin that a few studies have shown may improve ovulation.  And this isn’t just for the ladies – men, leafy greens help your sperm stay nice and healthy too!  Eat up!
 
Whole Wheat Bread:  Did you know that higher insulin levels can really disrupt reproductive hormone levels?  Introducing complex carbs can help with this issue.  Complex carbs take longer for the body to digest which in turn keeps the blood sugar stable.  
 
Olive Oil:  Another good fat to introduce to your diet when preparing to get pregnant.  Inflammation in the body can really interfere with Trying To Conceive.  Olive oil is a Monounsaturated fat and it will help decrease the inflammation in the body.  Simple way to help the whole body be relieved of any inflammation. 
 
Bananas:  These perfect on-the-go fertility boosting fruit can help both the male and female in this equation.  Bananas contain vitamin B6 which regulates the body’s hormones and menstrual cycle.  A B6 deficiency can lead to poor egg and sperm development.  
 
Garlic:  A great antioxidant and antibacterial food choice.  Garlic is full of vitamin C and B6, which are both important for hormone regulation and immune boosting. Also, garlic has high amounts of selenium – a must have for healthy fertility – an antioxidant that can prevent chromosome breakage.

    Just imagine if eating food could get you pregnant. Oh wait, it kinda makes me pregnant thanks to my awful digestion!! HA HA HA!
