Mom status. That is my new response to my friends and family who ask what my plans are for the day, week or month. Mom status. School has started and with Taekwondo and dance class filling our days it is beginning to be a little bit of a puzzle to fit in my own activities. To keep myself and the family on track and following the crazy schedule I have to keep my planner up to date.
One way I do that is by always having great office supplies to keep the scheduling easy, creative and fun. Look, if I am going to be a personal assistant for my family, I want to have fun doing it. Which brings me to the perfect time to start a good supply of office supplies – Back to School time!!
Now the question is – Where are all the pens??? Seriously, I can never find a pen when I need one. This Back to School season I decided to try a new pen for my planning use. FriXion Erasable Pens are my new favorite and they aren’t just in my home office, they have made their way into my purse, work office and car! These are perfect for me because as our schedule changes A LOT I can easily erase and reschedule our appointments.
To keep my new favorite pens nice and handy in my home office I decided to jump on the Washi Tape bandwagon and get creative.
Washi Tape Mason Jar Pen Holder
Materials Needed:
- Mason Jar or canning jar – go through your grandmas or mother’s cabinets, you will find one!
- Washi Tape – at least 2 different colors/patterns.
- FriXion Erasable Pens – the only pen you will need from now on.
Directions:
1. Clean jar well. Dry completely.
2. For this project you will only use the metal ring, not the lid.
3. Carefully do your Washi Tape magic. I found a solid orange tape and a striped pink tape. This is the part of the DIY project that you get to be creative.
4. Cover the whole jar with Washi Tape and then fill jar with your favorite pens.
Turned out so cute right!?!?! I love it. So simple but makes my super planning even easier with a pretty pen holder at my desk.
I remember those “old” erasable pens and they are nothing like these because the FriXion Clicker Pens actually work! Not only are the great for cleaning up mistakes but if you write on yourself, I mean I am not the only one that does that, the ink is easily removed from fabric. Bonus! I love that these come in black, blue and red – perfect for my family planner.
When you pick up these FriXion Erasable Pens you will be helping a great campaign for the school year too. Pilot will be participating in the STOMP Out Bullying, the leading national bullying and cyber-bullying prevention organization. STOMP Out Bullying is helping ‘erase’ negative bullying behaviors and ‘rewrite’ positive, productive solutions. Pilot will be making a minimum of a $125,000 donation to STOMP Out Bullying organization for the next 2 years. What a fantastic program to support when buying the FriXion Erasable Pens!
At Target you can pick up a three-pack of assorted or black FriXion Clicker Pens for 20% off from August 23-29, 2015. I will be heading back to pick up some more of my new favorite pens this week and maybe create another Washi Tape Mason Jar Pen Holder for my work desk.
Makes me want to decorate all my pen cups at work and also erasable pens would make making my grocery list look better. I always end up switching things around for coupons or sales so I could avoid scratching out things and keep it more organized! Love it!
I love it. I think it came out awesome. What a great idea.
Hmm… I think the first couple of days I am just going to curl up with a book and relax while all of them are at school and rejoice with the silence. Yeah, probably not… I will probably end up scrubbing my floors while no one is here to walk on them.
This is adorable! I know what my daughters and I will be making this weekend before we start our homeschooling year next week!
Now that's a cute way to use a left over jar. Very cute.
Washi tape is one of my new favorite ways to decorate. This is a really fun idea, and it turned out great!
We are going to make this tmrw, we have all the supplies needed for a version for our son and daughter! This is great!
So simple and easy! Love how fun it makes your desk look!
Right now I have my supplies is recycled vegie cans. Washi tape would make them a lot less "metal".
Frixion pens are my FAVORITE! Cute container idea!
Love this idea! Super cute and great decor for the office.
What a cute and easy idea.
This is so cute! I've recently gotten really into washi tape and have been decorating ALL the things 😀
What a fun jar. We love these pens!
So cute!! I have a lot of washi tape but never know what to use it for 🙂 I love this idea!
I am obsessed with washi tape and your project now has me thinking of all the things I can coat with it. And those pens are some of my favorites!
I feel you! Mom status all day ery day! 😉 I can't wait to try these pens and that holder is super cute.
I can never find that kind of tape near me that is cute.
What a great idea! I am definitely going to start using 'mom status' as my reply too. Once school starts there is little else I can do even if I wanted to. We are also a Taekwondo and Dance family (great minds…lol). I have a homework station set up and still never seem to have a pen when I need it. I will have to consider a bit of washi tape diy to help make that change for sure!
1. I love this tutorial. 2. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your planner 😉 Happy Weekend!
What a fun tutorial, I have a ton of jars at home this would be awesome to use them for pen holders; why didn't I think of that? Thanks for sharing and you are using my favorite pens 🙂
That is too cute! Having fun accessories on the desk helps me keep it a little more organized.
I completely agree! I'm the personal assistant around here too and I like to keep things fun as well, I think your pen holder turned out great and I love mason jar crafts! It's perfect. Washi Tape is a lot of fun on it's own to decorate with anyway, lol. Awesome project, thanks for sharing.
So cute! I have a ton of washi tape that I found for .10 a roll on clearance after Valentine's Day. I've been waiting for some fun projects!
