Baby Safety Month - A Look At Car Safety, car safety stats, September baby safety month, car seat safety infographic
Most of us get into a car at least once a day and that usually includes our children.  The facts are there and the tips need to be followed.  Every situation and every room can be a danger to children and babies.  We can consider a car a room and the “room” of a car is one of the most dangerous.  Every year, a significant number of babies are injured or killed in preventable vehicle related incidents.

Car Safety Facts:
  • Each day approximately 2 children are killed in motor vehicle accidents.
  • 400 children are injured in motor vehicle accidents.
  • The #1 cause of vehicle related fatalities for children is that their car seat was improperly installed.
  • On average only 1 out of 5 car seats are installed correctly.
  • Heat! Even on a 60 degree day the interior of a car can still reach 110 degrees!
  • The body temperature of a child increases 3 to 5 times faster than that of an adult.
  • One of the top non crash related causes of death of a child in a car is choking on food.
  • 77% of the children that die from choking on foreign objects are under the age of 1.
  • Power windows in vehicles have trapped, killed or injured thousands of children in the last few years alone.

These facts should make you think, your heart hurt and take your breath away.  Take the time to make your car safer by learning some of the common and preventable causes of injury and death among children.  Act now!
Share this great Car Safety infographic with your friends and family. The more we know the more we can help change these statistics.

We have always trusted Britax carseats for our kids safety. They are simple to install and the safety ratings are consistently high!

That's scary that only 1 in 5 car seats is installed correctly! I know when my kids were little, I always had such a hard time getting the seat belt tight enough behind the car seat. It's great that you are helping to spread the word about such an important topic.

This is great information and a good reminder to make sure we are doing everything we can to keep our little ones safe while riding in the car.

Wow – these are some startling facts. This take me back to when my son had a medical emergency on a toll road in update NY. We didn't know what to do and we were in the middle of unfamiliar territory. Luckily we found a hospital but it taught us to always plan and know how to get help.

Carseat safety is one of my biggest things. It's not difficult to take steps to keep your child as safe as possible! Thanks for making sure everyone has knowledge of the facts!

Great information. The loose car seat is my biggest pet peeves! Tighten that sucker up – the seat should not be able to move once it's in. Thanks for sharing.

Car seat safety is so important. We use a britax 5 point harness even with a 4-5 year old. It gives me such comfort to know my little one is safe!
