The calendar is getting packed full of after-school activities but also those fun school field trips.  Jude has been in school for two years and finally on his third year I am feeling more prepared for these upcoming field trips.  I guess I am not a fast learner but now I am here to give you some essential field trip snack ideas and tips!
Essential Field Trip Snacks, What’s your #TargetRun?, Field Trip Snack Packing Tips
Our favorite field trip of the year is heading to a local working farm in northern Colorado called Miller Farm.  This trip is the perfect experience for the Montessori teaching because of the gardening and harvesting aspects of the farm.  The kids get to experience how veggies are harvested and the hard work that takes!  I will share our photos once we visit this school year.

The first year we took to Jude to this field trip, I was a bad field trip mom.  It was close to 90 degrees out and after we did our harvesting little Jude asked for a snack and drink because he had worked so hard.  NO!!  I totally didn’t even think of that!  Bad mom!  Field trips are fun but usually exhausting for everyone involved so now that I have learned from my mistakes I am always field trip ready!

I have decided that prepacked snacks are the way to go but sometimes the ingredients scare me a bit.  That is when I decided that on my most recent Target Run I would test out the Simply Balanced line.  I have bought some items from Simply Balanced before but never really paid attention to what the kids thought.  I was so surprised at the amazing selection and perfect price of these Organic snacks.
I was able to pick up some fruit bars, fruit snacks, granola bars, fruit and veggie squeezers and juice boxes all in one stop!  Thank you Target!  I let both Jude and Teagan taste test these items before I made them our field trip snacks – they were all kid approved snacks – actually, I approved them too!  Yummy!

Field Trip Snack Packing Tips:

Plan Ahead:
Head to your local Target and make a #MyTargetEssentials list to include prepacked items that are easy to pack the evening before the field trip.  Avoid having to run to the grocery store the day of the trip.

Easy to Eat:
Sometimes field trips can be rushed or the parents might not be able to attend.  Pack items that kids can eat on their own without assistance.  Example:  prepackaged granola bars and juice boxes that are kid favorites but super easy to eat and drink.

Hydration:
Do not forget the liquid!  I am notorious for packing food and snacks but forgetting the drink.  Simply Balanced Juice Boxes are the perfect size for a lunch bag/box and filled with organic fruit juice!

Think Picky:
Kids are weird eaters, one day a Simply Balanced Fruit and Veggie Squeezer might be their favorite, and the next day it may not interest them.  Pack like you are a picky eater and make sure there are a couple different options for your child to choose from.

Make it Special:
Field Trips are a fun treat in school.  Make these field trip snacks a special treat, surprise the kids with these delicious options when they open their lunch bag during the field trip!

Enjoy a Snack:
Are you a field trip mom?  You deserve a snack too!  Pack one for yourself!  Yummy!

Definitely need easy to eat snacks that are not too messy especially for toddlers. I always carry extras in my handbag.

We are sadly lacking in the snack department.
I really need to stock back up..we are always on the go and most of the time we could have USED a quick snack.

Excellent tips! Nothing worse than kiddos that are hungry and whiney (who can blame them, I don't like being hungry either!) These look like great snacks to have on hand!

It is so important to pick good snacks for our children. When we give them good snacks it helps them to eat better all the way around.

Ah I'm notorious for packing the eats and forgetting drinks too. Glad I'm in good company 😉 and of course I'm working on improving that too. 🙂
