We have talked about the joy of snack day for preschool but have we talked about the joy of snack day for sports? This fall, my husband volunteered to be Jude’s T-ball coach, which is adorable but as the season ends we were talking about how it would be nice for him to give a little treat to the team from him – Coach Jeremy.
We started thinking about what we could do, the normal granola bar and juice box wasn’t enough. The league that Jude plays in is very big on positive play and affirmations – love it. So I decided to take the creative turn on this project for Coach Jeremy.
On the last game day, Jeremy will hand each of these bags out to the players. The positive quote about teams will be inside the bag of cereal trail mix and on the back of the printable Jeremy will write a hand written thank you to each player. Such a fun idea and honestly pretty easy.
Once I decided what to make I ran to my local Safeway store and walked into the Stock Up Sale! YES!! I already knew that I wanted to make some sort of homemade but easy trail mix and when I stopped in the cereal aisle and saw the sale prices my mind was made up. Cereal Trail Mix! What kid doesn’t love cereal?
After I got done unloading my groceries – thanks Safeway for helping restock my pantry – I got to work on my printable. Simple and to the point! I love this message. Shows the importance of working together and why working together actually gets you more in life.
To give the Cereal Trail Mix a little crunch I picked up our favorite Nature Valley Crunchy Oats ‘n Honey granola bars and broke them up into bite size pieces. I simply put a couple of packages into a resealable bag and smashed them. Easy enough. I added some Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal and Honey Nut Cheerios and mixed everything together well. I topped of the cereal with some craisins and raisins. Yum!
Looks great right? Something that all kids will love and parents will appreciate because it isn’t candy! ha! Thanks to the Safeway Stock Up Sale I was able to create these team treats on a great budget while also stocking our pantry for school breakfasts, lunches, and snacks.
Now all this needs is a little personalized thank you from Coach Jeremy! I am so happy with how these turned out and I cannot wait for Jeremy to hand them out at the last T-ball game to his team.
