It is time to start thinking about how you are going to start the New Year.  I am sure you can agree that most of our resolutions or New Year goals are centered about health.  I know mine always are – either weight loss, mental health, exercising, etc.  This year, I am also thinking that way but in a more well rounded way.  I am not looking at the scale numbers or the pant size.  Instead I am looking for a BETTER ME!   Here are the items I will be focusing on.
Drink Water
Our bodies need water – lots of water.  I find that the days that I actually drink more water than I “need” I feel better.  No headaches, less dry skin, bloating is gone and I don’t ever feel starving or thirsty.  All great motivators to picking up that water glass and enjoying some fresh cold water.
Pick Up A Book
I love to read but I never seem to make time to read all of those books I have on my MUST read list.  Reading has so many great benefits for all ages and yes, even as adults.  Reading reduces stress, improves analytical thinking, helps with writing skills, enhances memory and allows us to escape from reality if only for a moment.  I will be setting a reading goal for the New Year and will make it a priority!
Eat Breakfast
I am notorious for skipping breakfast with the kids and heading to work for the free coffee!  Yikes, not a great way to start the morning.  This year I will make it a habit to enjoy a protein packed breakfast that should help me have a good day at work.  Part of the reason I often skip breakfast is because our mornings are a bit rushed – we like our sleep.  Recently, we started enjoying Johnsonville® Fully Cooked Sausage Turkey links, they are so tasty and super easy to prepare.

Johnsonville® Fully Cooked Sausage Turkey Links Facts:

  • Johnsonville Fully Cooked Breakfast Links come in 3 flavors, and each pack comes with 12 links. Original Recipe, Turkey and Vermont Maple Syrup
  • Just microwave for :30, and enjoy.
  • Made with premium cuts of meat with no fillers.
  • 8 grams of protein in 2 links of the Turkey links.
  • Sold at Walmart stores nationwide – “where to buy” link on the Johnsonville website.

Spoil Yourself
YOU!  You matter, you deserve special treats, time to yourself, shopping trips, extra sleep, or whatever you feel like is being spoiled.  Sometimes all of the hustle and bustle of the holidays and New Year make it difficult to remember that you need time too.  Being spoiled is sometimes looked down on but that simple act of buying yourself chocolate and flowers can brighten up your mood and day.  Mental health is just as important as physical health – take time for you!
Work It Out
I have found an exercise that I love, reformer Pilates, and in the New Year I have a goal of making it a normal routine to attend class at least once a week but shoot for twice a week.  As a working parent it is hard to do that some weeks but again, A Better For You Year, will take effort and adjustment on many levels.  Finding an exercise or activity that you love to walk into makes this “step” even easier!  We all know that eating better and working out leads to losing weight but we cannot forget that working out also helps reduce stress, strengthens your body and helps with overall heart health.  All super important things to reach that goal of A Better For You Year!
As December comes to an end, I am focusing on these great tips and goals.  I hope that you can also find a way to A Better For You Year!  I am starting my mornings better now with the addition of the Johnsonville Fully Cooked Sausage Turkey links.  The kids love this sausage too.  I love that we are all leaving the house ready for a great day with the help of Johnsonville!

I should make New Year's resolutions, but I never do. I know I will never keep them, but I really like all your positive ideas!

I love your new year goals! I also want to eat more breakfast. Man I am terrible about skipping it. Drinking more water is another. I LOVED reading more this year and I'm hoping to do it again the next. Happy holidays mama!

Your new year goals are pretty much the same as mine. I am terrible about drinking water, and eating breakfast, and I could definitely take some more time just for myself.

I haven't even started thinking about goals for next year. I didn't do so well meeting last years goals, so I better get more realistic this year! I definitely need to add drink more water to my list!
