This Winter, our family has been hit hard in our family with the sickies.  Both kids have had urgent care and ER visits after they started having breathing issues from croup.  Not a fun way to spend our winter break from school — such a bummer.  There were many beautiful snowy days during which we really wanted to get outside and play in the snow, but due to this terrible virus hanging around, we have had to find things to do inside to celebrate our winter fun.
Last weekend we decided to make our own snowflakes and enjoy some kid friendly hot cocoa to enjoy the last couple of days of winter break before heading back to school.  Sometimes we have to get creative when the kids just want to jump in the snow banks but still have a terrible coughs and runny noses.

These Hot Cocoa Snack Pack® Pudding Cups came out so adorable and the kids loved the idea because they didn’t have to worry about burning their tongues on their hot cocoa.  Plus, they were the perfect treat to enjoy while we did some snowflake crafts.

Directions:
1.  Take the easy to remove lid off of the chocolate Snack Pack® pudding cups.  I kept ours at room temperature so we could use the paper straws.
2.  Top each cup with a few mini marshmallows.

Once we made our Hot Cocoa Snack Pack® Pudding Cups we started making our snowflakes.  I had Jeremy cut out the snowflakes with the kids while I prepared their pudding cups.  Once the snowflakes were cut we had the kiddos start coloring them.  They thought this was so much fun, especially because there was snow on the ground outside.

When we have these types of craft sessions I love watching Jude and Teagan’s creative personalities come out.  Teagan worked on one snowflake the whole time and Jude did at least three!  All of them turned out so pretty and added a ton of personality and color to the front window.

I love finding desserts and treats for the kids that I know they will enjoy but I can also get creative with. I have said it before: I will never be the bento mom but, I can certainly be the mom that surprises the kids with yummy pudding cup treats like these!

We've made something very similar before. Instead of straws we use those hazelnut sticks you see in coffees!

I've been on a pudding kick lately, I never thought about adding marshmallows though. I usually just drown it 50/50 with whipped cream. The snowflakes look like a fun way to spend a quiet day too

So cute! I love this idea. My daughter is hosting a Frozen birthday party next month and I think this would be fun. I hope they are all better soon and get outdoor snow days, as well as indoor snowflake parties. 'Til then, this is a sweet way to bring the snow inside.

What a pretty snack idea and you mixed in some delicious items. I like to put whipped cream on top, too. I also like crushed nuts and syrup!
