It is that time of the year, cold and flu season.  Yuck!  It never fails, when one member of the family gets sick we all get sick.  Now that both Jude and Teagan are in school there are twice as many little germs coming home to our house every day.  NO!!!  It is miserable to see your kids feeling sick and not acting like themselves and when they finally bounce back from the sickies without fail mom gets sick!!

If you are like me you totally believe that a Mom’s schedule does not include a sore throat.  Over the holidays the kids got a really bad virus, actually ended up with an emergency room visit for Jude.  Not fun.  And sure enough they were nice and shared this lovely virus with both Jeremy and me.  Super!!  But not until they were back in school, work was crazy, and they were feeling better.  So when I just wanted to rest and be a bum, just like they did a few weeks earlier, these kids were running me all over the place.  Oh parenthood…

Something that is a must have in my purse when the kids share their cold and sore throat is Chloraseptic®. This sore throat spray is so helpful on those days that your sore throat is challenging your efforts at being a present mom. Being sick is no fun for anyone and finding a remedy that really helps you feel better quickly is important. Chloraseptic® is the # 1 sore throat relief brand that provides fast-acting relief for sore throats and mouth pain to help you get through your day.

I have been using Chloraseptic® for years and when I saw that the flavor had been improved I was nervous that I wouldn’t like it because it was already a very good flavor for a medication.  Still a great flavor – I have a really bad gag reflex and I have not issues with this spray.  Nice!

This simple sore throat spray gives this mom the ability to bounce back from those bugs and back to feeling like mom the superhero!

Chloraseptic® Pharmacist Maria Mantione’s Tips for Cough & Cold Season:

  • Wash your hands often. Washing your hands with soap and water is the best way to prevent the spread of the common cold.
  • Prevent illness by practicing healthy habits. Make sure to get enough sleep, eat a balanced, nutritious diet, exercise, and minimize stress.
  • Get your flu shot! The CDC recommends a flu shot for everyone over the age of 6 months. It is easy to get – just talk to your pharmacist. It the BEST way to prevent the spread of the flu. It does NOT prevent the common cold, but the flu is a devastating, serious illness that could put you out of commission for a week or more, or even worse, land you in the hospital with pneumonia or infect someone you love with a weaker immune system – like babies, the elderly, or those undergoing chemotherapy.
  • Before cold season, stock your medicine cabinet with the essentials. Stick to single ingredient products, so you have you what you need to treat your specific symptoms. These include pain relievers and fever reducers, a decongestant, cough medicine, lozenges and a sore throat spray. Topical medications, like Chloraseptic® sore throat sprays and lozenges are great to have on hand because they are portable, can be used safely with other cold medicines, and have very few side effects.

I'm doing most of these tips, I'm ok so far, but some of my relatives have been hit hard, and it is taking forever to get better. I have to tell them about this product, it sounds wonderful.

So true! Moms can't get sick. I use Thieves oil and rub in on my neck whenever I feel the tiniest soreness. Very rarely does it ever become a full blown sore throat.

We've been very fortunate and stayed pretty healthy this season, but my kids aren't little anymore, which definitely makes a difference. I love Elderberry Syrup, though, and have been known to guzzle it at the first sign of a cold.
