Book Page Pennant Banner – while this would take a little more time and effort it would be a great addition to any playroom, bedroom or classroom!  What a fun way to incorporate color, Dr. Seuss and reading into a decoration!!  I love this!!

Read

Being that this day is all about reading and a great author it is important that we all read to our kids on this day.  Teachers will too!  Plus, take time for yourself and sit down and escape with a book.  We all deserve this!  Reading to your kids – no matter their age – is important.  Enjoy this time!

Craft

Finding a fun craft is pretty easy with the world of Pinterest but it might be hard to pick your favorite.

This One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish craft is not only perfect for a good range of ages but it is so cute!  I love to see my kids create their own fish.  And I am betting that you have most of these items needed for this fun Dr. Seuss inspired craft.

Learn

Reading certainly has it’s learning aspects but take it a step further with these Word Family Hats that are Dr. Seuss Cat in the Hat inspired. Take time to make learning fun with these printable hats.  This would be a great activity to do at home after school or on the weekend.

Snacks

Just like crafts, there are so many fun themed snacks that go perfectly with Dr. Seuss’s birthday celebration.  These are a few easy treats that could be taken to school or made especially for home!

I have often talked about making green eggs and ham for breakfast or dinner on this day but the idea of green eggs is a little unsettling.  But this is brilliant!!  Green Eggs and Ham Pretzel Bites!!  What a great sweet and salty treat that goes perfectly with one of the most well known Dr. Seuss books!

Write a Story

So we are introducing the idea of more reading to the kids on this celebration but why not start teaching how authors create books for us to enjoy?  This is an art that can be started at a young age and something that kids work on for a long time.

This Preschool Alphabet Book is a great way to start this kind of activity.  Have the young kids work on something that will create a big alphabet book or even have them do a short story with their drawings.  The possibilities are endless!  Creative minds are fun to see grow!

Favorite Book

Have the kids find and share their favorite book.  This would be a fun activity in a classroom or daycare but especially at home.  Even younger kids can do a verbal book report on why they enjoy reading their favorite books.
