Are you and your kids counting down the days until you get to visit Zootopia? This weekend!!  Make it a family affair and enjoy the trip! Both Jude and Teagan were beyond excited for our special trip to the theater with our friends from We Got The Funk.
This was a really great movie for all ages.  I found myself laughing through out the whole film and the kids thought the characters were great.  I was a little surprised at the seriousness of the plot and my sensitive boy had a hard time during the “scary” parts.  Let me preface my review with a few things.
  • We saw this screening in 3D and it was the kid’s first time experiencing that.
  • Jude is going through a scared stage – like up ever night a few times with nightmares stage.  Oy!
  • It was a late night.
Teagan, who is 3, was glued to the movie.  She did have a few parts that she grabbed my hand or hid her face but for the most part she loved the whole movie.  She has been talking about the funny parts all week and adores Judy the Bunny.
Jude, oh Jude.  Our 5 year old – who I believe is anxious, super sensitive and so into his head did struggle through out some of the movie.  That being said, he actually picked up on the true theme of this movie and has been asking a ton of questions about it.  I love that about him.  However, the melt down in a dark scene of the movie was a little much for this mom!  ha!

This experience was so much fun with our friends – blogging friends are the best.  These two are the same age and loved sitting next to each other sharing movie candy and soda.  So fun!

And the girls of the group!  They LOVED the movie, maybe because the scary parts were above their heads?
My overall review is that this is a must see for everyone but please be aware that there are some darker, more action packed scenes that I was not prepared for and either was Jude!!  I love movies that leave some humor just for the adults too.  For those of you that love Breaking Bad I promise you will laugh at one scene and your kids will wonder why you are cracking up!

Synopsis:

The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when rookie Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery.

Directed by Byron Howard (“Tangled,” “Bolt”) and Rich Moore (“Wreck-It Ralph,” “The Simpsons”), co-directed by Jared Bush (“Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero”), and produced by Clark Spencer (“Wreck-It Ralph”), Walt Disney Animation Studios’ comedy-adventure “Zootopia” opens in theaters on March 4, 2016.

Who will you be taking to see ZOOTOPIA come March 4th?

We're planning on seeing the movie this weekend. Thanks for the heads up about some "dark scenes" as you wouldn't have gotten that from the bright cheery trailer. My kids are just getting to the age where this isn't as much of a big deal anymore but still nice to know in advance especially as my 7 year olds are a bit of scaredy cats.

I have been seeing the commercials for this movie and can't wait to go and see it. My "baby" is grown up now, so I will steal away by myself and go and see it!

Thanks so much for your honest review. I have a four-year-old grandson who is also super anxious and in his own head and after reading your review, I definitely will not be taking him to see this movie! Eventually there will be something he can see without weeks of night terrors, right?😄
