Disclosure:  we received a conference rate for our stay.

While we were on our amazing trip to Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Villages & Spa we not only enjoyed the resort and conference but also learned about a great way that the Beaches and Sandals resorts are making sure to show their philanthropic side in the Caribbean.

What Is The Sandals Foundation?
The Sandals Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Sandals Resorts International. The Sandals Foundation seeks to help fulfill the promise of the Caribbean community through investment in sustainable projects in education; environment and community which improve people’s lives and preserve the natural surroundings.
At the Social Media on the Sand conference we were able to donate directly to this great cause.  We were asked to bring a provided backpack full of school supplies and bring those backpacks to the conference.  I love shopping for school supplies anyway but knowing that these supplies were going to the communities just miles from the resort we were visiting made it even better.

Jennifer from Jersey Family Fun captured the hundreds of blue backpacks full of school supplies that the conference attendees brought and donated. It was so great to see it all. We are a great group of influencers and this proves it even more so!

While at the conference we heard directly from the CEO of Sandals and Beaches all about their involvement in this foundation. It was very clear that it was near and dear to his heart. Currently, they are focused on projects such as supporting local schools, community initiatives, and sustainable projects preserving the environment. I was so impressed when they announced that Sandals and Beaches supports the Sandals Foundation’s staff by giving 100% of what is raised back to community! WOW!!

This year it was also announced that a new partnership has been created between the foundation and Scholastic. Scholastic is the world’s largest publisher and distributor of children’s books and with a 94 year history of service, Scholastic is continuing to carry out its commitment to “Open a World of Possible” for all children. This is how you can get involved from home; Scholastic Book Fairs will be a sponsor of our weekly Reading Road Trip and provide thousands of books for the Caribbean-supported schools. So make sure you check with your local book fair to see what you can send to the Sandals-supported schools! Very cool!

We were able to view the newest video from The Sandals Foundation while at the conference and I loved it. “Our Caribbean Soul” truly reminds you why we must be involved in this foundation.

Powerful right? When you visit one of the Beaches or Sandals Resorts in the Caribbean make sure you take time out of your vacation to see how you and your family can be involved with the foundation.

Another great initiative that Beaches is proud to announce is the Women Helping Others Achieve (WHOA). Two of the Caribbean’s most influential brands, the Sandals Foundation and The Bob Marley Foundation, are joining forces to address the chronic issue of gender inequality in the Caribbean with the introduction of Women Helping Others Achieve (WHOA). WHOA is a multi-year women’s empowerment program designed to provide support, mentorship, education and skills training to help marginalized women across Jamaica and the Caribbean find inspiration and strength to transform their lives and, in doing so, positively impact their families and communities for generations to come. Fantastic right?

This is awesome. It's good to know that Sandal's and Bob Marley foundations have teamed up. How awesome that you all were able to contribute filled book bags for the local school children. The local children in the video are all precious. We've never been to the Caribbean but I will keep this in mind should be travel there.

How wonderful. I've not been to the Turks & Caicos but I've been to many islands in the Caribbean and I'm stunned by how poor the island is. I will gladly contribute to this amazing foundation.

To be honest I hadn't any idea that the company gave back to the community like this!
Makes me feel more comfortable with the idea of booking a vacation with them that's for sure.
    Love that they give back.
