We all have some movies that we watched as children that really stick in our memories. Disney is really hitting those on the mark lately and on August 12 2016 one of those childhood movies will be hitting the big screen – Pete’s Dragon. While we are not planning on taking our kids to see this movie (hello sensitive kiddos) we are very excited to go on an anniversary date night to see the new release! How fun it will be to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary with Pete!

Disney Pete’s Dragon:
A reimagining of Disney’s cherished family film, “Pete’s Dragon” is the adventure of an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliot, who just so happens to be a dragon. “Pete’s Dragon” stars Bryce Dallas Howard (“Jurassic World”), Oakes Fegley (“This is Where I Leave You”), Wes Bentley (“The Hunger Games”), Karl Urban (“Star Trek”), Oona Laurence (“Southpaw”), Isiah Whitlock, Jr. (“Cedar Rapids”) and Oscar® winner Robert Redford (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”). The film, which is directed by David Lowery (“Ain’t Them Bodies Saints”), is written by Lowery & Toby Halbrooks based on a screenplay by Malcolm Marmorstein and produced by Jim Whitaker (“The Finest Hours,” “Friday Night Lights”), with Barrie M. Osborne (“The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring,” “The Great Gatsby”) serving as executive producer.
For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliot. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliot seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon. Disney’s “Pete’s Dragon” opens in U.S. theaters on August 12th, 2016.

Will you be heading to the theater to see Pete’s Dragon?
I can't wait for this movie to hit theaters. I am heading out in 2 'sleeps' for the red carpet premier in LA. This movie is going to be awesome and I can't wait to share it with my daughter.
We are going to see the preview on Monday and cannot wait! I hope it's not too intense for my kiddos–the trailer is great, though.
I'm anxiously awaiting Pete's Dragon's release! We love to have a movie night one night every week, though we don't always go to the theater — we save that for extra special movies like this one. This will be our last "fun thing" before we settle into the school routine.
Enjoy your movie night without the kiddos. Hubby and I often do the same to prescreen movies. I don't even think my little one would be able to sit through the movie (sensitive ears).
That looks awesome! I cannot wait to watch it. I think my son would love it too.
I think I saw this when I was little, but I hoenslty can't remember. The graphics looks amazing and I bet my boys will love it. I try to get them to watch old movies I loved and they don't seem interested and I think it has a lot to do with how much the graphics have improved.
I cannot wait to go and see this with my kids-I'm probably more excited than they are!! The last movie we saw together (actually the first since the kids are still small) and we loved it. A perfect family day outing!
Oh, I've never heard of this fairy tale, but that trailer looks awesome! Do you think it will air in Europe, or just the states?
It's very straightforward to find out any matter on web as compared to books, as I found this post at this web page.

YES!!!! This was my favorite movie as a kid!!!!!!!!
You really actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic matter to be really actually something which that I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated complex and very extremely broad for me. I am I'm looking forward for your next post, I will I'll try to get the hang of it!
