It is no surprise that we are a reading family if you have been following our story for any amount of time. I love a good book and so do my kiddos. Seeing Jude be able to sit down and read a book all by himself is simply amazing. One of my “ah” moments as a mother has been seeing both of the kids do their “firsts”. First bath, first step, first tooth, first day of school but now as they get older these firsts become even bigger. For example that first time we saw Jude pick up a book he had never read and read a page to us. It was a pretty great moment.
From the time they were born we have surrounded them with books. Thankfully both sets of grandparents also love reading and books so there is absolutely no shortage of books in our house! But that is okay! Seeing the excitement in their eyes over a new book makes my heart sing and to see Jude sit down and read to Teagan is priceless.

A few weeks ago I was introduced to a new book called Bee in the Sea while at the Social Media at the Sand Conference #BeachesMoms in Negril Jamaica. Once I saw this book I knew it would be a hit with the kids. The cover of the book pretty much shows how adorable it is! That little Bee!! When I came home with this book both Jude and Teagan were so excited to read it.
Bee in the Sea by Adam Reed
Overview:
Bees aren’t supposed to swim, and fish aren’t supposed to fly… that is, until one day long ago, a little bee decided to try.
This is a fun, funny and adventurous story about a young bee who one day finds himself in the middle of the sea. Surrounded by curious sea creatures and fantastical ocean life he undertakes a magical journey making many friends along the way. The fish gather around and teach him how to swim while he teaches them how to jump up and fly out of the sea.
Our Review:
The rhyming and creative story in this book is perfect for ages 2-8. Jude is 6 and he is able to read the whole book on his own. Teagan adores the illustrations and thinks the animals are so cute. I love that this book gives everyone a very positive message about achieving the impossible. Even if you are little in the big world. Very well written book.
I would recommend this book as a gift for the upcoming holidays. It is a great read, with amazing illustrations and a perfect message for children. Make sure you pick up this book soon so you can be ready for the next TWO to be released! Yes, Adam Reed has been busy, he told me that the second and third books will be out next year! We are excited to see what is next!
