The new year is here and the first month of 2017 is close to being over. Where are you sitting with your New Year’s goals? I never really told anyone what my goals were for this year, but one of them was to take better care of my health. No, not the typical eat better, work out and lose weight goals, but more of the “make those dreaded doctor visits” goal!
One of the ways I have failed myself is by not making time for my own appointments-physician, eye and dentist. Yikes. Not a good thing. Parents often focus more on getting their kids to all of their yearly appointments, but the fact is, we parents need to go too.
Better One – Better Two?
New Year’s Goals with Pearle Vision
Just three weeks into the new year, Jeremy and I made our first appointments. First on the list was a trip to Pearle Vision for an eye exam* and new glasses.
The moment we walked into Pearle Vision we were greeted with cheerful “Good Morning” welcomes. We felt comfortable browsing the frames while we waited for our appointment. We went to the Pearle Vision located at The Streets of Southglenn in Centennial, Colorado. This office was clean, updated and so modern. We loved it. And all of the staff were very kind and helpful, not to mention super helpful with our kids.
Dr. Lisa Hamilton was very kind and took the time to listen to both me and Jeremy’s past eye health, and any concerns we had. She took all of our information and helped us make a decision on our contact refills. I felt like we had known each other for years. It was a very comfortable first appointment for my New Year’s goal!
Teagan was pretty interested in what Mommy and Daddy were doing. She was worried we were going to get hurt when they checked our eyes. But once she saw the process she was relieved. Teagan is at the age of asking a ton of questions, Dr. Hamilton was great with those questions and reassured her that she was just checking to make sure our eyes were healthy. With every question about the eye exam* came an answer for Teagan.
Like I said, the whole staff was so kind, even when our kids became a bit bored waiting for us to be done with our appointments. I never felt like the staff were annoyed with Jude and Teagan, and it was so nice to feel that way. By the end of our appointment, it was decided that Teagan could become their little assistant because she was so comfortable with the team at Pearle Vision.
So often, the reasons parents do not take time for themselves to do these yearly appointments is because of the lack of child care. I really appreciated the experts at Pearle Vision for being understanding of and accommodating to both Jeremy and me, and for helping us to get our exams* and new glasses.
Once we were done with our exams*, it was time for the fun part, new glasses. New look for the new year. I went around with Teagan looking for the perfect pair. She was actually very helpful. Pearle Vision had so many amazing frames to choose from, it was hard to pick just one pair. I was loving the updated shapes, styles and colors of the frames.
My little helper. Making memories while getting my eyes checked? Always fun with my little fashionista. She is so honest! Ha!
I have worn contacts and glasses for many years, and for the most part I would only wear my contacts. But over the last couple of years I have found that my eyes get super tired at my computer, so this year I am making it a point to alternate between contacts and glasses. This meant I had to find a pair of frames that I loved.
Jeremy went into this appointment determined to find a great pair of frames as well. With the help of Bobby, he found the pair that fit him and his prescription best.
Once we were measured, Bobby told us that both of our frames were in stock, and that he could have them ready for us in just an hour! I am not sure who was more excited Jeremy or me!
My glasses! Love them. We walked back into Pearle Vision two hours later and our new glasses were waiting for us. We tried them on and were properly fitted. Bobby and Dr. Lisa Hamilton went over a few tips for our new glasses, and we were done. What a successful day. I am so thankful for Pearle Vision. The experts at the office took the time to accommodate us as a family, and treated us with kindness and respect.

Well, I have had my new glasses for almost a week and guess what? I LOVE THEM! I have worn them more than my contacts. It is great to feel so comfortable and see so well in them. I do not think I have ever had a pair of glasses that fit this well.
So…what do you think of my new eye wear? Love it?
*Eye exams available by independent doctors of optometry at or next to Pearle Vision in most states. Doctors in some states are employed by Pearle Vision.
I've always had a pleasant experience there. Love their selection of glasses. I love the glasses that you picked out. It perfectly frames your face.
Your new glasses look wonderful on you. My husband and son both wear glasses and have both enjoyed Pearle vision. They have such a great selection and are so easy to work with. Looks like your family enjoys them as well! Love that you got your frames in under an hour, too.
The process of getting your eyes examined and getting new glasses is not hard but is still a pain if you know what I mean. I put off going as much as possible. Having a doctor who is understanding and nice to work with is a huge plus.
Receiving great customer service is so important, especially when it come to shopping for glasses. The last thing you want to do is spend time in an eye doctor's office, so that is awesome that they have quick service, too! I love your new frames! They're stylish and look great on you.
I actually am due for an eye visit because I can tell that my vision has changed tremendously and that is not a good thing. Thank you for posting this reminder. I will make my appointment today.
We were on track until a few days ago. Now all heck has broken loose. Life is full of stressful surprises. It's tiring. I need a break. My hubby needs some new glasses. He wears bi-focals and they are a fortune.
It's so true that we always take care of the kids' appointments and not our own. As a single mom of three (plus a grandson) I feel like I'm in the doctor/dentist/somebody's office every other week. With all the appointments it's a lot to keep up with and mine easily fall by the wayside!
