Disclosure:  I was provided complementary screening tickets for this movie in exchange for my honest review.  All opinions are my own.

Tuesday evening I took my mom with me to a movie screening for the soon to be released Gifted.  It was a snowy Colorado evening but we made it to the theater safely, honestly movie nights are always better in the snow.  We had watched the trailer of this movie but didn’t know much else about it.   Some movies are great entertainment, other movies are like a great book – they never leave your mind or heart.  Gifted is the latter.  Wow, just wow!

Gifted Movie Review, GIFTED movie, Gifted with Chris Evans, Gifted with McKenna Grace

About Gifted:

Director: Marc Webb

Stars: Chris Evans, Mckenna Grace, Jenny Slate, Octavia Spencer, Lindsay Duncan

Frank Adler (Chris Evans) is a single man raising a child prodigy – his spirited young niece Mary (Mckenna Grace) – in a coastal town in Florida. Frank’s plans for a normal school life for Mary are foiled when the seven-year-old’s mathematical abilities come to the attention of Frank’s formidable mother Evelyn (Lindsay Duncan) whose plans for her granddaughter threaten to separate Frank and Mary. Octavia Spencer plays Roberta, Frank and Mary’s landlady and best friend. Jenny Slate is Mary’s teacher, Bonnie, a young woman whose concern for her student develops into a connection with her uncle as well.

My review of Gifted:

Just a few words – ALL THE FEELS!  Seriously, through out this film I felt happy, confused, angry, sad, excited and love.  This story line is so well written, I felt like I was just another character in the movie as we watched.  I wanted to scream for Frank and Mary because I felt as if I was apart of their family.  This film is filled with heartwarming scenes of what the meaning of family truly is.
This is a wholesome family movie filled with lots of life lessons.  I left the theater feeling very happy with the movie and will recommend it to others.  The line up of actors were really fantastic.  Chris Evans really played the perfect Frank, Octavia Spencer was amazing and as was Jenny Slate.  But McKenna Grace stole the stage in this film.  She was fantastic.  A little precocious and a little silly. Loved her character!
Releases on April 7th in New York and Los Angeles and in other major cities on April 12th!  Soon!!  Put it on the calendar and make a date!

Thanks for your review. I will have to check out this movie, Gifted. I love movies that can elicit so many emotions. I don't really know any of the cast, so I can get to be a new fan!

I always like movie reviews before checking out the actual movie. From your review, this seems like a great family-friendly movie. We have movie nights on Saturdays so we may have to check this one out.

I love a great movie review. I have seen some posters around about this film but thanks for this review. I definitely would like to see how this movie plays out with her genius and intellect of an 7 yr old.

I actually haven't heard of this movie, but I would definitely go and see it. As a parent and an educator, it is a very interesting storyline!

I'm so excited to see the movie. I've read so many great reviews (including yours) and watched the trailer. I'm not certain I can get my husband to go along with me .. so it'll be a great excuse for an afternoon date with my best friend!

I am so excited to watch this movie. I love films that hit me right in the heart. I am sure Gifted will have a lasting effect on me. Movies about family and relationships are the ones I love best. McKenna Grace is superstardom bound. She seems to know her business and yet, stays grounded and lives her life just like any ordinary kid!
