I’m sharing Teddy Soft Bakes in my life as part of a sponsored series for Socialstars™” #myfirstTeddy #discoverTeddy

It is really hard to believe that the school year is coming to an end, I feel like this yeah has gone super fast.  Jude will be moving on from Kindergarten to 1st grade and we are so excited and so is he!  He feels so grown up when he comes home with his folder full of “homework”, I hope that this excitement continues as he continues through school. He certainly loves to learn.

Something that we have started trying to do with Jude every afternoon is to work on either a book report or a worksheet his teacher sent home.  Not only is this preparing him for more homework for next year but also gives us time to sit down with him and find out about his day at school.  With seasons in our life changing so quickly, taking these moments with Jude after school is a great way to create some great memories and moments with my big “little” guy!

Last week, we worked on a special picture for his teach for his school’s Teacher Appreciation decorations.  We sat down with his very favorite after school snack, Teddy Soft Bakes and got to working, chatting and snacking!  He had to come up with a phrase for why he thinks we should appreciate our teacher; he decided to write the following – “You are a great teacher!”  Perfect!
If your kids are anything like ours, you know that when you sit down to ask your kids about how their day of school was you will only get the “it was good!” answer.  I don’t understand why that question is so hard to answer?!?  Instead of asking that dreaded question I decided to make a list of questions that would be easily answered by any kiddo and hopefully lead to some great conversations and memories.

There are days that I have to ask Jude a few of these questions before he starts going on and on but most days once I ask one question, our after school conversation blossoms quickly.  This gives us time to sit for at least 30 minutes while we talk about his day and complete any of the work he needs to complete.
I can see us using questions like this for years to come, like I said before, the seasons are coming and going quicker than we ever thought possible.  Taking this time to enjoy our growing kiddos is very important.  While we are not going anywhere or spending any money I know those moments are full of great memories for Jude.  Moments that are focused on him and his days at school.

Our kids are all grown up now, but we used to ask them a few questions about their day at school. Everyday was a snack and something to drink when they got home. Homework was an ordeal as they got older; but, who really loves doing homework? Thank you for posting these questions! I can pass these along to my daughter-in-law, and use them myself when we have our grand daughter over.

I can see why kids love these teddy snacks! Even I would love them! It's great to come up with questions, where kids have to actually go into detail, instead of questions that is answered with a yes, no or good! These are all great questions and it's good to see parents interacting with children. I wished ALL parents would spend time like this with their children.

What a wonderful post! How easy is it for us to simply ask "How was your day?" The same applies to adults too. Instead of asking generic questions like "What do you do?" I instead ask things like "What is the thing that makes you the happiest in your life?" The answers are far more interesting!

My son loves these soft bakes. We do our car talk in the car on the way home from school. He is 8 and I just hope he always talks like that the older he gets

My son loved teddie crackers when he was younger. We haven't tried these, but as he's 16, that's not surprising lol. I love watching a company that I've seen from the start evolve.

First, those Teddy Soft Bakes are big! I had no idea they were such a big size. So this weekend we have my stepdaughter and she got such a kick out of reading her these questions from your blog. Thanks for that! 🙂

I love these questions to ask your kids after school. So many grown ups are so bland and just ask the standard "How is school" and wonder why "fine" is the same answer. These questions make it seem like the parent is really engaged with the child!
