Today is a big day for me! Today officially begins my journey of being a full time blogger and social influencer! Last Friday, I walked out of my job that I had for almost 12 years and walked into the world of being my own boss. YES! While this was a super scary move and a move that will have our family really re-evaluating our spending and wants I am feeling a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders as I write this.
I have enjoyed being a writer and influencers since 2009 when I started this blog, I honestly had no idea it would take me this far but after a year of a lot of stress at work and my blog really ramping up, I had to take a hard look at what I wanted to be. That golden question – “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Well, here I am, growing up into an author, writer, creator and #bosslady!
It does not seem real yet, just seems like a vacation for now but I have work to do. Currently, I am working on my schedule, I am a planner which means I have to have my days planned and my motivation ready. Once I find my routine, I know this will be a huge relief for both myself and my family. I cannot wait to be more present in the evenings and weekends for my kids and husband. No more working 40 plus hours at the office and then coming home and working another full time job as a blogger!
I am excited to share this journey with you all and honestly, with out you all here I wouldn’t have this opportunity! This experience of making that really hard decision to put in my notice let me see that it is so important to follow your dreams and take chances in life. You wouldn’t believe how many people have told me they are jealous of me running towards my dreams. How sad is that? I would never consider myself a motivator but please, look at your dreams and try making them a reality. Life is short. Don’t dream forever.
For those of you that already work solely from home, please share your tips and experiences with me.
How do you balance your day? How do you stay focused on the work that you need to get done?
We've not yet reached a phase where we are doing this full time. However, we are happy with our current balance though it is as you very rightly put it, quite hectic. We've heard of so many bloggers who get burned out because doing what they love full time makes it a bit like work. We are scared it might happen to us and haven't moved forward. Did you have a similar thought while going full time?
Woohoo! You are kicking butt girl! So happy for you!
Well, congrats. I imagine it was a hard decision, but I am sure it is going to be the best thing for you. You have great content, and not having to worry about a job will allow you to get even further and get even better posts in here. Lots of success for you!
This is awesome. Good for you! I am a bit envious. I have been juggling a full time job, family, house hold and blogging for over ten years. I wish I was in a position to quit my day job. I'm excited for you and am looking forward to following your journey. I bet it's going to be great.
Congratulations!! I left my job at the end of last year and now my focus goes completely to my blog and my VA business. At the start it was amazing but I am still working on finding my 'groove' and the schedule that works best for me. My advice would be: have fun, be flexible and be patient with yourself. Enjoy!
Congratulations! I wish you much success. It's such a blessing to be able to work for yourself and not have to report to a "job". My advice is to reach for help when you need it and take the time to celebrate your wins.
Girl power! I love it, good for you .. so many congratulations for having the guts to make your dream a reality. I'll be interested to follow your journey as you settle into a new normal. You're so right, it would be heaven to not have to work 40 hours and then come home and work on your blog!
Congratulation's!! I am a firm believer in the motto "If You Can Dream It,You Can DO It! I stepped out on faith 12 years ago leaving my job and I went full time blogging 8 of those years and I love it!
I love that you quit your job! I quit mine last year to focus on my youngest son's needs. I would love to call myself a professional blogger. Right now I just blog to blog. I do find writing to be a form of therapy. So envious of you right now!
OMG! Good for you! I did the same 7 years ago and I wouldn't change it for the world. Blogging full time is a very rewarding experience but its a lot work. Start planning your calendar and the companies you are going to pitch so that you can get a head start on fall and winter content. Best of luck to you!
Censie, this is soooooo awesome. Huge congrats to you on making this step. My wife and I have been running our own business (www.HoneyTrek.com) for 6 years now. One thing that we find helpful is to start your day with the most difficult task. That is when you are the sharpest, least distracted, and if the task takes extra time, you have all day to crush it!
