Zap Zap Kindergarten Math – Breaking the Summer Slide

Disclosure:  This is a sponsored post from Zap Zap Kindergarten Math.  All opinions are my own.

Both Jude and Teagan are really into anything with a screen.  This means that during the summer we really have to regulate their free time when it comes to screen time.  Pair that screen time with the Summer Slide and parents have a big job during these few months without school!

Some of you might be wondering what the summer slide is all about. It is certainly not the fun slides at the park but rather the slide that a lot of kids experience while not in school over the summer. The summer slide is a tendency for some students to lose some of the achievement gains they made during the previous school year.  Goodness knows we do not want that!

Jude is our tech kid.  Sure he can read a 4th grade reading level book in one day but he could also sit in front of a screen playing games or watching shows all day.  This kid, he is brilliant but we had to find ways to keep his brain moving while he enjoys his allowed screen time.
Just last weekend a new app was released called Zap Zap Kindergarten Math and he has found a new challenge that not only has a great game aspect but also tons of math.

What is Zap Zap Kindergarten Math?

  • Zap Zap Kindergarten Math allows kids to solve math problems through a series of fun math puzzles mirroring the US Common Core.
  • The adaptive learning feature serves as an interactive teaching tool to orchestrate the unique needs of each student.
  • The ecosystem continually scales and tracks performance when a student interacts with each math problem, which ultimately makes it easier for teachers/parents to keep tab of their kids progress.
  • Modules include – Number Recognition, Plus and Minus, Shapes and Measurement.
  • Educational math games exclusively for Kindergarten!
After Jude played for about 20 minutes we looked at his “report card” and saw the great stats that the program kept track of.  Zap Zap Math kept Jude entertained and feeling accomplished.  I loved hearing him get excites when he moved onto a new level.

Look at this happy guy!  Now that we are familiar with Zap Zap Kindergarten Math I cannot wait to continue with Zap Zap Math in general.  This app has math for grades Kindergarten through grade 6.  After sitting down with Jude for a few days with this app I will be sharing it with Teagan on her tablet as well.  She will be in Pre-Kindergarten next school year but I believe she could complete a number of these levels on the Zap Zap Kindergarten Math as well.
I am so happy that we have been exposed to Zap Zap Math.  This not only allows the kids to play games on their tablets but also makes sure they are keeping up with some of their schooling through out the summer.  The bright colors, fun music and great themes of the games are perfect for both Jude and Teagan.

Is this an app you would use for your kids so they do not do the Summer Slide?

In a way I'm really thankful we didn't have all of the screens when my kids were little. Watching my daughter with her two little ones, it seems like a never-ending task to keep them from always being on her phone or their iPad. I'll pass your post along to her. I know she's always looking for ways to combine fun with learning and this seems like a really great app! x

This seems like an app my granddaughter can use since she will be headed to kindergarten in Sept. This will help her gain more insight about math, I like the bright colors and different learning themes!

I have heard of the summer slide, but I wonder how it is gauged? My kids have daily math/writing worksheets that I make them do, and we also have reading time. I read them a story together, and then they have to read to themselves for at least 15 minutes. I made Thursdays "no technology" days throughout the summer, too.

This is such a great game! A lot of kids are so into their gadgets now so games like these that are educational greatly helps their development. I'll share this with my sister!

I love, love, love math and so I'm more inclined to get an educational game that's math related. This would be great for a lot of parents I know. Their kids would definitely love it!

I'm having trouble regulating my little guy's screen time. I would love to see him grow into a math nerd. This might be the solution for both.

My kids were screen kids as well, but it came in so handy in the summer when they could work on educational games online or on disc to keep their minds fresh and sharp. Kids lose alot in the summer so education screen time is alright. My kids loved it.

Great idea for keeping the kids mind going all summer long. Even better that you can make it in a relatable way for your tech kid.

I try to keep the kids reading all summer long. This app would be great for kids to keep their minds working and have fun too.
