Doesn’t seem possible that we are starting school or that we have a 1st grader!   Yesterday, Jude started 1st grade and he was so excited!   We started the day off with our traditional first day of school chalkboard picture on the front porch.  This year, Jude decided he wants to be a Scientist when he grows up.  Honestly, this does not surprise me!  He love science!!

After 3 years of Preschool/Pre-k and 1 year of Kindergarten, this guy is so prepared to tackle 1st grade.  He is in class with 3 of his buddies he has been in school with for 3 years plus a new friend.  We are blessed with a great student to teacher ratio at our school!  5 kids in first grade….all boys again this year.  I know he will be getting some great one on one with this ratio.  What a great education opportunity!

I think Jude is most excited to have his own desk to put his own supplies in!  Such a change from the Montessori curriculum he has had for the last 4 years!  ha!!

Jude decided on a Pokemon backpack and lunchbox this year, I know that is surprising to you all!  Pokemon is life to this kid!!  And his shirt of choice was a bright yellow polo – his favorite color.

And for a little throwback picture of Jude.  This was in 2013 for his very first day of school!!  That excitement and willingness and urge to learn has not changed, instead it has grown!!  I love that Jude loves to learn.

Jude’s first day of school was great, he came home with smiles and stories.  We are looking forward to a great year ahead!!  Bring on 1st Grade!!!  Do well turtle!!!

What did your kids say they want to be when they grow up this year?

My daughter usually says she wants to be a Dr. She'll start 1st grade next year. My preschooler wants to be an ambulance, haha. That's what he calls a paramedic. Though on occasion he'll change it to being a firefighter. Anything that has to do with helping people (Paw Patrol!) is cool with him.

My kids started a new school this year. They were excited until I mentioned the school does manners classes. All excitement went right out the door. So far they love it. Uniforms are required and that is a big adjustment however I dont have to listen to arguing about what they are wearing to school each day either.

I miss those first few years of school. Now my son is starting 10th grade and we're being pressured into looking at colleges already. Actually, we're a year behind!

Wow! First grade, I remember those days. My daughter has changed what she wants to be when she grows up so many times since then. She does know one thing for sure that I found out this past Summer. She does not want to be a lawyer, she says that is the quickest way to get shot, her words not mine. Kids say the funniest stuff.

Awww … I love this! Jude is such a handsome little guy! So glad he's excited! Mine is going into first grade too and you've just given me some great ideas! Thank you for this! Hope he had a great first day!

It is so nice to see that Jude has already made up his mind to be a scientist. This will definitely help him focus on a path to reach his goal as he begins school. Back to school is indeed an exciting time for kids as well as parents. Brings back nostalgic childhood memories.

He looks all sorts of handsome to start first grade! How I loved these ages when my kids were little. My son has always wanted to be a musician, and while he doesn't do it to make a full-time living, he does teach lessons on the side. x

It feels like such a short time ago when my daughter came in to the first grade and lined up in line. I remember being with her and seeing her off for that first day. I can hardly believe she's going to be starting the sixth grade this year. That's so awesome that he is excited and prepared.

It's great that he has positive thoughts about getting back to school. Some kids aren't excited because there's going to be homework and stress all over again. Doesn't his school require wearing uniforms? His Pokemon backpack looks cute.

I love the little sign you made for him! It is such a fantastic idea to do for all "first days" – you made it so colorful and so full of the cutest information. Love the fact that Jude wants to be a scientist when he's older!

This is so cute with the chalkboard and taking a picture with it for back to school. I need to do this with my kids.
