Disclosure: My family and I were provided with a discount for our stay at the Best Western in exchange for our honest review. All opinions are our own.
When we decided to take a road trip to southern Colorado to visit the Royal Gorge Bridge in Cañon City Colorado we knew we had to find a great place to stay. After searching online we decided on the Best Western in Cañon City. To be clear, Cañon City Colorado is a small town and way different than the Denver Metro area we are used to. So, when looking at the lodging options our expectations were a bit more than what some of the motels offered. However, the Best Western worked out perfectly for our family trip for 2 days.
Why Stay At The Best Western – Cañon City Colorado
The Best Western is in the heart of Cañon City which made it close to restaurants and parks. It was very easy to locate and the front desk staff welcomed us very nicely as we arrived.
Our room was small but perfect for the two days we stayed. I felt like the beds and room were very clean and comfortable. As you can see, the kids made themselves right at home putting their stuffed animals on their bed. Silly kids!
Our two queen bed room had a nice sized desk, which was great for me because I had to do some work when we arrived, a large TV, microwave and mini refrigerator. The refrigerator came in handy to keep all of our water cold for our day to trip to the Royal Gorge Bridge.
The bathroom had a bathtub which was great for after swimming baths for Teagan. The toilet and bathtub/shower was in a separate area away from the sink which was very helpful when all four of us were trying to get ready for the day!
A free breakfast was included in our stay. Every morning we would walk down to the breakfast area and enjoy hot bacon, eggs, waffles and fresh fruit. There was always a ton of variety of breakfast items and this place was hopping every morning we went! We did find a table to eat at every morning but others had to take their food to go. I believe this was our only complaint about this hotel. The breakfast area was very over crowded and hard to get around the tables and many guests.
The kids favorite part of the hotel was the pool, of course. We enjoyed a nice family swim after our long day of exploring the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park. It was a lot of fun and we pretty much had the place to ourselves! There was also a good sized hot tub and sauna in the pool room.

The Best Western is about 15 minutes from the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park. It really is a great location to stay at if you are planning to see the bridge. If we ever make this trip again we will certainly be staying at the Best Western.
Have you stayed at a Best Western while traveling before?
I have never been to Colorado. It seems like a great place to visit and sight see. I love seeing photos from there and hearing about others' experiences.
Looks like a great place to stay for families with kids. My boys always seem to enjoy a hotel with a free breakfast! And the pool looks awesome. Royal Gorge is a place I've always wanted to visit…it looks just beautiful!! Thanks for sharing the insights!
I've been in Colorado for a little over 6 months and haven't been to Canon city yet. It's definitely on the places to go list. I don't think I have ever been to a Best Western before honestly. I could be wrong but as an adult, i know I haven't. I'll have to be sure to check on out when I travel.
We love staying at best westerns. They have a great rewards program and are wonderful for families. I also love how many location they have!
That view is beautiful! My husband has never been to Colorado, so we hope to make it out that way some day. Best Westerns have definitely look different than they did when I was younger. There remodels are really nice, and we could be comfortable staying in one for sure.
What a great breakfast area, and it's free? That is great! Also an indoor pool? I know where I want to stay the next time in Colorado. (jozywails@gmail.com)
I've not had good experiences with Best Western properties.
I've never seen a motel with all these amenities. And I can't believe they even had free breakfast! wow! That's really great! I just love visiting small towns.
