Well I did it. I signed up for Stitch Fix!! I had seen a ton of people doing this service but they did not include plus sizes at first so I kind of forgot about it. But then I saw….PLUS SIZES available! Woot!! So I jumped right on and filled out my profile and style needs and my shipment was ready! So easy! Are you ready to see what I got for my first fix?
Let me be clear, I am not a fashion blogger so these photos are not the greatest….maybe if I continue this I will get better at it. We shall see. But for now…here are the items that came in my first fix.
My stylist, Angie, was fantastic. I can tell that she read my profile and looked at my pinterest board I created for my Stitch Fix needs. I also feel like she kept my budget in mind, that is huge for us right now!
When I first opened my box it was packaged up so nicely. Next time I promise to take a better picture! I guess I was so excited to see what Angie picked for me!! There is an envelope with the pricing and directions, place that to the side until after you try on your clothes, don’t let the price sway your decisions. Sometimes, cheap isn’t better! Keep that open mind when using Stitch Fix! Along with the pricing page there is a letter from your stylist as well as cards with outfit ideas including the pieces that are in your Stitch Fix box. What a great way to get some inspiration!
Item 1 – Skies are Blue Hylett One Pocket Top
While I love the plaid, especially in the green and blue, for fall, this top fit me really weird. The sleeve length was great but the fit around the hips as well as the deep v-neck had me feeling like I would be pulling and adjusting this top all day long. I did love the light material, however. This top retails at $54.00. This is a size 3x.
Verdict – Sent Back.
Item 2 – Dear John Libby Tencel Vest
When I first saw this long vest I was not sure what to think. When I put it on I was in love. The color and the shape was perfect. Oh and the pockets! YES!! If I was still working outside of the home I would have snatched this up without a thought, but since I am mostly sitting in my home office I could not justify the $78.00 for this item right now. This vest was a 3x, probably could have had a 2x comfortably.
Verdict – Sent Back.
Item 3 – 41 Hawthorn Dido Mixed Print Knit Top
When I filled out my profile for my stylist I asked for mom casual looks great for now and fall. This top delivers! I love the floral print that is on the back of this top as well as the rolled 3/4 sleeves. This is a top that could be casual on a Saturday but business casual on a Monday. It is a light material great for layering in the fall and winter months. This top is a size 3x and retails at $58.00.
Verdict – KEPT!
Item 4 – Kut From The Kloth Dayna Skinny Jean
Alight, I am in love with skinny jeans or jeggings, especially in the fall and winter seasons. Bring on the boots!! When I saw jeans in my fix I was a bit nervous because I find that jeans are hard to fit to my body size and shape. These, however, fit like a glove but for once in my life, they were too long! That literally never happens!! I did not like how much material was at the ankles. These jeans were a size 22W, not a long but seemed SUPER long! They retail at $88.00 so they are a bit more than the normal jeggings I buy. If they were the right length I think these would have been mine.
Verdict – Sent Back.
Item 5 – Marlyn Schiff Tomas Spike Pendant Necklace
I asked for jewelry to be included in my fixes and I am so glad I did. This long pendant necklace is beautiful and totally goes with so many of my tunics and sweaters. I love that it is a two toned necklace – gold and silver. So versatile. This necklace retails at $34.00.
Verdict – KEPT!
Woohoo! What a fun process! I loved this and cannot wait to get my next fix in a few weeks!
After only one Fix I know I am no expert but here are a few tips I believe that might be helpful when trying Stitch Fix for the first time.
My Tips:
- Be honest on your profile – list your correct numbers even if it is hard to type those numbers out!
- Do not look at the price card until you try on your items.
- Ask for time capsule pieces – items that can be used from season to season.
- Think outside the box – try something new!
- Request for special events – need a dress for a wedding next month, ask for one!
- Update your price ranges as your budget changes.

Have you tried Stitch Fix yet?
I almost signed up for this yesterday! Thanks for the review 🙂
Its pretty fun, I am ready for my next fix!
That's a neat service. I am also plus sized and have a hard time finding clothes that don't look like an old lady or outdated looking. All the clothes you got were cute but I agree with your decisions on what you kept and didn't keep. I love the shirt you picked!
These types of plans/boxes are both good and bad in my mind. I get scared because I am never sure if something will ACTUALLY look good on me…….. But it also gets me outside of my comfort zone (IE: YOGA PANTS ALL THE TIME)…. But if I don't like something, sending it back is tedious in my mind. That being said, it doesn't look like you need to send anything back!! WOO WOO!
You look wonderful for starters. Second: I am considering trying this service. I have read a lot of reviews and your look is fantastic.
I love the way Kut From the Kloth fits but they do run super long!! I love what you kept! That mixed media top is so pretty! I miss getting Stitch Fix but I had a bad habit of keeping nearly everything lol. Glad they finally got a plus sized box going out !
I have heard of Stitch Fix from several people. I have heard different opinions. Some seem to like it and some do not. I liked reading your review, and the items that you received look great!
Oh, I didn't know they added plus size clothing! I hate going clothes shopping, so this would be ideal for me. I love some of the pieces you have tried on.
Awww .. you look so pretty! I've heard of services like this too, but have never tried one. I'm wondering if that needs to change. It would fun to have my own personal stylist. x
I have seen Stitch Fix come across my computer, several times and have even went to their site. They have tons of cute clothes and I really love that Hawthorne Dido Mixed Print Top! That is so 'IN' right now and looks great on you!
I haven't heard of stitch fix. It sounds like a super convenient company though. I love that they have so many trendy and cute plus size pieces. I also am totally obsessed with that gold necklace. It is so cute.
Oh my goodness, those look absolutely amazing on you! It's my first time to hear of this brand and they surely have a lot of great items. 😀 Great share!
I haven't tried Stitch Fix yet. I'm too much of a tightwad. But I think it's great that they offer clothes for plus size gals now. I really like that floral top on you.
